Abstract: A therapeutic preparation for the transdermal application of active substances through the skin comprising additives causing an increase in the percutaneous absorption rate of active substances which can normally only insufficiently be absorbed transdermally is characterized by the fact that the additives are HMG-CoA-reductase-inhibitors.

Abstract: Electronics packages having a primary metallic material, such as a titanium metallic material, metallurgically bonded to one or more secondary regions within the primary metallic material, the composite regions having desirable thermal conductivity properties and having a coefficient of thermal expansion (“CTE”) that generally matches the CTE of the primary metallic material are provided. Electronics packages comprising titanium having heat sinks comprising a metal matrix material such as aluminum silicon carbide or a composite metallic structure such as titanium aluminide/copper, are described. Methods for manufacturing electronics packages having a composite structure are also disclosed.
Abstract: Methods for producing genetically modified plants, particularly woody plants, and most particularly plants of the Eucalyptus and Pinus species, involve transformation of target plant material with a desired genetic construct and regeneration of the transformed plant material using an adventitious shoot bud system. The methods provide a high transformation efficiency and substantially reduce the duration of the transformation and regeneration protocols. Stem segments of a target plant are transformed using Agrobacterium-mediated techniques, and adventitious shoot buds are regenerated from the Agrobacterium-infected stem segments. Preferred culture media, including selection media, and improved plant culture techniques are disclosed.

Abstract: A process for the continuous production of transdermal therapeutic patches, wherein a laminate of an auxiliary layer (3) siliconized at least on one side, an active substance-containing, pressure-sensitive adhesive layer (4), and a supporting layer (9) is prepared as a strip-shaped web (1) first, and the active substance-containing sections (4') obtained by punching said layers (3) and (4) across the web direction are intermittently transferred onto a second web (2), the punching procedure taking place in the rest phase between the cycles and the transfer procedure onto the second web (2) being carried out preferably at equal distances by means of a transfer device (11, 12), is characterized by the fact that the supporting layer (9) is stripped from the active substance-containing sections (4') during the transfer first, and that then the sections (3') of the auxiliary layer are removed with the aid of a process layer (5) which has been rendered pressure-sensitive adhesive.
