Abstract: Novel compositions are described which comprise an elastomer or a lubricant and at least one compound of the formulae I or II ##STR1## The symbols R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3, Z.sub.1 and Z.sub.2 are as defined in claim 1.The compounds of the formula II and some of the compounds of the formula I are novel, and they are used especially as antioxidants.
Abstract: A process for the preparation of a recombinant IGF-II (rIGF-II) without a covalently attached foreign protein moiety and without N-terminal attached methionine or a derivative of methionine or of a salt of said IGF-II, rIGF-II produced by said method, hybrid vectors comprising DNA encoding said rIGF-II, hosts transformed with said vectors, and a process for the isolation of said rIGF-II from the host cell and refolding it into a biologically active form.
Abstract: Described is an isoelectric focusing electrophoretic process for the separation and purification of an amphoteric or neutral chemical compound from one or more electrically charged chemical compound(s). Said process is illustrated below at the example of the purification of a protein from contaminating proteins and salts. It may be carried out in an apparatus especially designed therefor, e.g. an apparatus as depicted in FIG. 1. Said apparatus and various modifications thereof are also claimed. The mixture to be separated is present within a hydraulic flow in chamber 8. Cylinders 5 and 12 contain immobilized pH-gradients or are replaced by amphoteric isoelectric pH-membranes. Each of said pH-gradients and pH-membranes has conductivity and both buffering and titrant capacity in its pH-interval.
Abstract: There is disclosed a process for the preparation of analytically pure chelate complexes which can be used in diagnostic medicine, for example as contrast media or radiopharmaceuticals. The process comprises transcomplexing a complex of a .beta.-dicarbonyl compound and a metal ion, for example a metal acetylacetonate, which is readily soluble in an organic solvent that is not miscible in all proportions with water, with a stoichiometric amount or with a less than equivalent amount of a chelating agent whose binding affinity for the metal ion is greater than that of the .beta.-dicarbonyl compound.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a new laevorotatory basic derivative of 9,10-ethanoanthracene, namely R-(-)-.alpha.-[(methylamino)methyl]-9,10-ethanoanthracene-9(10H)-ethanol of the formula I ##STR1## and the acid addition salts thereof, to pharmaceutical compositions containing these new substances and to a method for treating dysphoric conditions, psychovegetative or psychosomatic disorders.
Abstract: Azacycloalkylalkanediphosphonic acids of formula ##STR1## wherein R is an azabicycloalkyl radical that is attached by way of the aza ring member and is composed of ring systems each containing from 3 up to and including 8 members, and alk is lower alkylene, and their salts, have regulatory properties with regard to the calcium metabolism and can be used as medicaments for the treatment of diseases that can be attributed to calcium metabolism disorders. They are prepared, for example, by:in a compound of formula ##STR2## wherein X.sub.1 is a functionally modified phosphono group and X.sub.2 is a free or functionally modified phosphono group, converting X.sub.1 and, where applicable, X.sub.2 into the free phosphono group(s).
Abstract: The compounds of the formula ##STR1## in which R is C.sub.1 -C.sub.24 alkyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.20 alkenyl, C.sub.5 -C.sub.6 cycloalkyl, unsubstituted or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl-substituted phenyl or phenyl-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, n is 1 or 2, and X is S or O, are highly suitable as additives, in particular as antiwear and high-pressure additives, and as corrosion inhibitors in functional fluids, for example in lubricants, fuels, hydraulic fluids, metal-working fluids and drilling fluids.
