Abstract: Disclosed is a process for promoting the rapid curing of a two component polyurethane lacquer that has been applied to a substrate. A cure coat composition consisting of a hydroxy functional polymer such as nitrocellulose, a solvent for the polymer, and a urethane catalyst such as an organic tin compound, is applied over the polyurethane lacquer while it is in a wet or semi-dry state.
Abstract: Disclosed is a laminated structure for use in an absorbent product comprising a hydrophobic acquisition layer adjacent to a fluid permeable top sheet, and an absorbent layer. The hydrophobic layer comprises a thermally consolidated blend of 5% to 35% of thermally bondable hydrophobic fibers and 65% to 95% wood fluff pulp.

Abstract: The water content of an HCl gas stream is reduced to less than 1 ppm by contacting the gas stream with a chloride of silicon or a chloride of a metal having a valence of at least four that is immobilized on a solid support.
Abstract: Disclosed is an improved method for making a thermoset polymer wherein a plurality of reactant streams, one of which contains the activator of a metathesis catalyst system combined with a moderator, and a second of which contains the catalyst of the metathesis catalyst system and at least one of which contains dicyclopentadiene are combined to form a reaction mixture, and the reaction mixture is then injected into a mold where polymerization occurs. The improvement comprises adding to the reaction mixture 1-25 mols of a cationic polymerization initiator per 1000 mols of dicyclopentadiene.
Abstract: Disclosed is a toner composition useful for electrophotography consisting of (1) the reaction product of a polyfunctional azide and a cross-linkable toner resin that is a copolymer of a styrene material and an acrylate or methacrylate, or a polyester resin that is the reaction product of a dicarboxylic acid and a dihydric alcohol, and (2) a colorant.
Abstract: Disclosed are nadimido-substituted cyclophosphazene derivatives and thermosets thereof. The thermosets are useful as high temperature, flame resistant matrices for composites and as metal adhesives.

Abstract: Organic antimony compounds can be used to retard deactivation of urethane catalysts during storage of a B side formulation containing aromatic polyester polyols, used in the manufacture of rigid polyurethane foams.
Abstract: Disclosed are polyester polyols prepared by esterifying tall oil with an excess of aromatic polyester polyols. The polyester polyols that are produced by this process are compatible with a trichlorofluoromethane blowing agent and are suitable for use in the manufacture of polyurethane and urethane-modified polyisocyanurate foams.
Abstract: Disclosed is a process for forming a paint marking on a roadway surface using a paint composition comprising (a) a paint vehicle comprising the reaction product of nitrocellulose, a polymeric hydroxyalkyl acrylate modifier, and an isocyanate resin as the binder, and a solvent, and (b) pigment in an amount sufficient to color the paint composition.
Abstract: Disclosed is a mixture of terephthalic acid ester polyols for use in the preparation of rigid polyurethane and polyisocyanurate foams. The polyols are prepared by reacting scrap polyethylene terephthalate, dimethyl terephthalate process residue and an excess of a mixture of glycols.
Abstract: Disclosed are macroreticulate polymer scavengers functionalized with arsenic or phosphorus compounds. These scavengers are used for removing oxidants, protic acids and compounds that can be metallated, from arsine and phosphine.
Abstract: Disclosed is a primer coating for cycloolefin polymer articles comprising an alkyd resin, a urea-formaldehyde resin, at least one 2-4 carbon alkanol, a nonleafing aluminum pigment and an acid catalyst. A cellulose ester and a solvent for the cellulose ester may also be included. The primer coating prevents migration of antioxidant from the cycloolefin polymer into a subsequently applied topcoat.
Abstract: Disclosed are terpolymers having a Ring and Ball softening point of 69.degree. C. to 130.degree. C. prepared from a vinyl-substituted aromatic hydrocarbon, a monoterpene hydrocarbon and a phenol. The terpolymers are useful as tackifiers in adhesive compositions.
Abstract: Disclosed are plasma developable photoresist compositions that possess photosensitivity to 436 n.m. light and maintain this photosensitivity for suitable periods of time after coating are obtainable. These compositions comprise perylene, certain perylene derivatives, or certain coumarin derivatives as photosensitizers in combination with N-vinyl monomers, haloalkene photoinitiators, and suitable polymeric binders in a suitable solvent.

Abstract: A fibrous web is prepared from a composition comprising woodpulp, glass fibers, polyolefin pulp containing carboxylic functionality, an inorganic filler, a polymeric binder, polyolefin pulp devoid of carboxylic functionality, if desired, and polyvinyl chloride, if desired. The fibrous web is useful as an inner layer in a multi-layer sheet floor covering material.
Abstract: To an aqueous dispersion of spurted polyolefin pulp is added from about 1% to about 20%, preferably from about 2% to about 12%, by solid weight based on the weight of spurted polyolefin pulp, of an anionic latex containing a natural rubber or synthetic which is swellable in hydrocarbons. The latex is then precipitated onto the spurted polyolefin pulp with a suitable agent, preferably water-soluble calcium, magnesium, barium or aluminum salts or calcium or barium hydroxides. When the product is recovered, the resulting natural rubber or synthetic treated spurted polyolefin pulp is readily dispersible in hydrocarbons. Because of this, the pulp can be added to cutback asphalt to form viscous compositions which can be readily sprayed, brushed and troweled with minimal pulp separation problems.
Abstract: The photosensitive composition of this invention contains (1) an ethylenically unsaturated component capable of forming a high polymer by addition polymerization or crosslinking, (2) a cyclic cisoid conjugated diene as a photooxidizable component capable of reacting with singlet oxygen to form an endoperoxide, and (3) a photooxygenation sensitizer. A process for preparing a photosensitive element, such as a relief printing plate, embodying a layer of such a composition is described.
