  • Patent number: 7578902
Abstract: An apparatus and method for manufacturing a multi-layer web product. A long fiber stream is directed around a rotating carding cylinder. Two combing cylinders are disposed adjacent the carding cylinder to comb a first web of long fiber and a second web of long fiber, respectively, from the carding cylinder. A first conveyor receives the first web from the first combing cylinder and transports the first web toward a layering point. Similarly, a second conveyor receives the second web from the second combing cylinder and transports the second web toward the layering point. A short fiber deposition unit is disposed adjacent the second conveyor and deposits short fibers onto the second web. At the layering point, the first conveyor deposits the first web onto the second web, with the short fibers sandwiched therebetween, to form a layered web product.

  • Patent number: 7568593
Abstract: A large capacity napkin dispenser for in counter mounting includes: (a) an elongate housing having a generally rectangular cross-section for receiving a stack of napkins; (b) a faceplate with a dispensing aperture, the faceplate being hinged to the housing so as to be movable between an open position for re-loading and a closed position for dispensing; (c) a movable support member mounted in the housing; (d) biasing means for urging the movable support toward the faceplate so that the stack of napkins is advanced to the aperture as it is depleted; and (e) sequestered means for locking the faceplate in the closed position. The locking means includes release means located adjacent the inner surface of the faceplate such that when the faceplate is in the closed position the release means is concealed in the interior of the dispenser, thereby eliminating the need for a key.

  • Patent number: 7543703
Abstract: Disclosed is a positioning and retaining assembly for securing an appliance in a carton that comprises a top cap and bottom pad. The top cap and bottom pad each includes a board and a plurality of clips secured to the board. The clips are arranged to engage the appliance at spaced apart locations around the periphery of the top and bottom of the appliance, respectively. In an alternative embodiment, one of the legs of each top clip has a ledge projecting outwardly from the top clip to engage the top of the appliance. In yet another embodiment, either the top cap or bottom pad can be replaced with a current roll-up design or molded foam, thereby only one of the top cap and bottom pad are used in the positioning and retaining assembly. The assembly is especially useful with water heaters.
