  • Patent number: 5291954
Abstract: A front folding tool carrier bar for agricultural applications includes a frame having opposite sides and having ground-engaging wheels mounter thereon. Mounted on the frame is a device for coupling the frame to a vehicle. Also mounted on the frame are a pair of forwardly folding wing bars having first and second ends, each of the first ends pivotally mounted on the frame such that the wing bars may pivot about a substantially vertical pivot axis between a forwardly folding transport position and a transversely extended working position. Each wing bar is pivotally mounted at opposite sides of the frame. For securing the wing bars in transversely extended working position, a pair of outrigger braces extend outwardly from the frame and are connected to opposite wing bars whereby the wing bars may be braced in working position. Mounted on each wing bar is at least one ground-engaging wheel. Finally, a device for pivoting the wing bars between the transport position and the working position is provided.

  • Patent number: 5289746
Abstract: A toggle wrench having a first jaw fixed to a handle. A sliding jaw is slidable toward and away from the fixed jaw. The jaws have parallel pressure surfaces disposed at an angle of 30 degrees with respect to the elongation of the handle. A link is pivoted to the forward end of the lever and has a forward end pivotally attached to the sliding jaw. A carrier is positionable along the handle by a manually controllable threaded adjustment assembly mounted on the rearward end of the handle. The lever is pivotally attached to the carrier rearwardly of the forward link. A movement of the rearward end of the link toward the fixed jaw side of the handle, which causes forward movement of the link for toggle-pressing the sliding jaw toward the fixed jaw. The carrier holds the lever and link in alignment with the handle.

  • Patent number: 5289389
Abstract: A response speed and accuracy measurement device includes a multidigit code generator for generating a multidigit code of numeric or alphabetic characters or other symbols. A start switch causes a code to be generated and displayed for a limited time duration. The operator then attempts to enter the last displayed code as quickly as possible using the data entry keys of a keyboard. A timer measures the operator's response time. A comparator checks the entered code against the displayed code for detecting a match. An output is generated in the event of a match to indicate the operator's response time.

  • Patent number: 5271355
Abstract: An absorbent material includes a mixture of poplar wood and peat in the volume ratio range 1:0.01 to 1:100, the material being formed to be dispensable for absorbing liquids and other substances. Cedar may also be included in the material. The material is produced by grinding poplar chips into a sawdust-like poplar material, drying the poplar material to remove moisture therefrom and mixing the poplar material with a quantity of peat to form the absorbent material. The resulting material is then pelletized to form pellets of the absorbent material whereby the material may be more easily dispensed.

  • Patent number: 5253377
Abstract: A waterbed mattress includes a spring insert having a plurality of open ended bellows spring units arranged in upright relation within the mattress. The pleated peripheral side wall of each bellows spring unit enables it to be collapsible from a normal expanded height to a shortened compressed height wherein the internal volume is substantially reduced. Each bellows spring unit is spring biased to its normal expanded height. The bellows spring units are snap fit into holes a spacer panel which serves to position the bellows spring units relative to one another a valve cover sheet may overlay one or both ends of the bellows spring units and have holes registered with the open ends of the bellows units to impart a hydraulic action to them in addition to their inherent spring force.

  • Patent number: 5251956
Abstract: A foldable table attachment is connected to the side bar of a collapsible chaise lounge for pivotal movement between a storage position and overlying engagement with a surface of the seat portion of the chaise lounge and a use position wherein the table top extends generally horizontally outwardly from the seat portion. A pivotal leg structure on the table top is pivotal from a storage position parallel to the table top to a use position extended downwardly from the table top for ground support. Upon pivotal movement of the table legs and table top to their storage position and upon collapsing of the back and leg support panels of the chaise lounge and leg members of the chaise lounge to their storage positions, the collapsed lounge chair may be stored in the same space required for storage of the chair alone.

  • Patent number: 5242206
Abstract: An inflatable vehicle cover is provided for protecting the body of a vehicle from damage from the force of impacting foreign objects. The cover includes a generally rectangular top cover of dimension to substantially cover the upper surface of a vehicle, to which is connected a generally rectangular bottom cover. The connection between the top and bottom covers is around the periphery of the bottom cover, thus forming a fluid-tight chamber. The bottom cover is further connected to the top cover interiorly of the periphery of the bottom cover such that two or more separate fluid-tight chambers may be formed. For introducing fluid into the various chambers, one or more stem valves is provided. Also provided is an apparatus for permitting release of fluid from the chambers, thereby allowing deflation. Finally, apparatus for securing the cover to the body of the vehicle is provided whereby the inflatable vehicle cover may cover and protect the upper surface of a vehicle.

  • Patent number: 5240215
Abstract: A universal computer support bracket adapted for use in a vehicle, particularly in a train. The bracket includes a channel to be mounted on a vertical surface. Slidably mounted in the channel is one end of a folding table support bracket. Pivotally mounted to the other end of the folding table support bracket is a folding table which may be pivoted between a substantially horizontal support position and a substantially vertical storage position. Mounted on the folding table is a pivot joint assembly on which is mounted a computer support table. The computer support table may thus be tilted to facilitate use of the computer. The invention is thus designed specifically to provide a reliable, sturdy and steady computer support bracket for use in a variety of situations, while recognizing and addressing important space considerations.

  • Patent number: 5238655
Abstract: A blood sample collection apparatus includes a removable plug adapted to fit within the open end of a blood collection tube. A vacuum tube extends through the plug for evacuating air from the collection tube. A pickup tube protrudes outwardly from the plug for supplying blood to a drop tube extending downwardly from the plug with its lower end positioned within the collection tube substantially below the lower end of the vacuum tube. A primary filter is sealed against the underside of the plug to filter the air drawn through the vacuum tube by a portable hand-held vacuum source. The primary filter is a hydrophobic microporous membrane operative to allow airflow therethrough but to block liquid flow therethrough. A secondary filter is operatively interposed between the vacuum tube and he vacuum source for increased safety. Installation of the secondary filter bypasses a bleeder port which renders the apparatus inoperative in the absence of the secondary filter.
