Patent number: 6407662Abstract: The valve assembly according to the present invention includes two valves, an inner valve and an outer valve that cooperate to control the fluid flow in fluid-containing member such as a vehicle tire. The outer valve cooperates with the inner valve to control the flow of fluid in and out of the fluid-containing member. The valve assembly includes an energy source such as a battery between the two valves. During normal operation, the outer valve is closed and prevents the flow of fluid out of the fluid-containing member. If the outer valve is opened, the inner valve is also open to permit the fluid flow in the fluid-containing member. If the energy source is removed, the inner valve component is closed and prevents fluid flow out of the fluid-containing member. The energy source in the valve assembly can be conveniently replaced without the need to deflate or otherwise dismantle the fluid-containing member. This is particularly advantageous when the fluid-containing member is a vehicle tire.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 1999Date of Patent: June 18, 2002Inventor: Fernando Gomez De Sebastian

Patent number: 6311369Abstract: The invention relates to a tool handle having a core that has a tool engaging end, an intermediate section, and a grip end. One or more rigid molded layers at least partially cover at least the intermediate section. The rigid molded layers include an outermost rigid layer having an undulated outer surface. The outermost rigid layer can include a portion that at least partially surrounds the grip end. In one aspect, that portion of the outermost rigid layer that surrounds the intermediate section is undulated and that portion of the outermost rigid layer that surrounds the grip end is free of undulations. The tool handles according to the invention dampen vibration that is transmitted from the impact end of the tool handle to the grip end that is held by the user. The invention also relates to impact tools having tool handles that dampen vibration before it is transmitted from the head to the grip section of the handle.Type: GrantFiled: August 20, 1999Date of Patent: November 6, 2001Assignee: Wavex CorporationInventor: Suk-Ho Ryu

Patent number: 6177191Abstract: Hydrophobic polyolefin fibers are provided with an internal hydrophobic polysiloxane of the formula in which X, Y, R1, and R2, which may be the same or different, or substituted or unsubstituted independently of each other, are aliphatic groups having not more than about sixteen carbon atoms, R1 and R2 also being selected from among aryl groups, and z being a positive number sufficiently high that the polysiloxane is hydrophobic (z is generally a least 10). The invention also provides a novel polymer melt for spinning these hydrophobic fibers. The fibers can be cut into staple lengths and carded and bonded to form hydrophobic woven and nonwoven products suitable for use in hygiene devices such as diapers. Such devices are improved by these fibers, which, as spun, present a greater hydrophobicity than melt-spun polyolefin fibers lacking the internal siloxane lubricant, the improved hydrophobicity is evidenced by an advancing contact angle for the as-spun fibers of at least about 95°.Type: GrantFiled: February 18, 1998Date of Patent: January 23, 2001Assignee: Hercules IncorporatedInventors: Rakesh K. Gupta, James H. Harrington

Patent number: 6152571Abstract: The invention relates to an adjustable lamp which can be fitted into a wall such as the, wall of a swimming pool or other water tank the bulb of the lamp can be positioned so that it is parallel to the horizontal, or have with a downward slant, typically between about 3.degree. to about 8.degree.. The lamp can include an elbow duct for receiving electric cables to the lamp. The lamp can be directed in at least eight different angles relative to the point on the wall where these cables reach the lamp by positioning its lighting axis so that it is parallel to the horizontal, or with a downward slant, while the elbow duct for electric cables to the lamp, can be directed in eight different angles, towards the point on the wall where these cables reach the lamp.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 1998Date of Patent: November 28, 2000Assignee: Sacopa, S.A.Inventor: Robert Garrigos Ruiz

Patent number: 6080015Abstract: A connector for coaxial cables having an inner conductor (14) and an outer conductor (10) separated by a dielectric (16) includes a front body (4) to attach a coaxial cable in the connector and a rear body (8) adapted for connection to the front body (4), and a device for holding the cable in the connector in a manner that permits reproducible deformation of the outer conductor (10) during the connecting operation. The device for holding the cable in position is comprised of a ferrule (1) for holding the coaxial cable, and a bushing (2) that cooperates with the ferrule (1) to permit axial movement of the coaxial cable over a determined distance (L) in the connector during the connecting operation. The surfaces of ferrule (1) and bushing (2) cooperate to produce reproducible compression and/or deformation of the outer conductor (10) between said ferrule (1) and said bushing (2) during said connecting operation.Type: GrantFiled: November 19, 1998Date of Patent: June 27, 2000Assignee: SEE SPRLInventor: Paul Andreescu
