  • Patent number: 5766401
Abstract: The invention provides a process for making an assembly of self-adhering, pressure sensitive labels wherein a facestock of continuous printable sheet material is first printed and overcoated with a silicone polymer acting as a release agent on its obverse side and is next printed and overcoated with a waterborne, pressure sensitive polymer adhesive on its reverse side, the imprinted and coated sheet material then being assembled into a coiled sheet roll or into a layered stack of selected lengths thereof, such that the first (obverse) side of one length of sheet material is placed in substantially contiguous contact with the opposing second (reverse) side of each subsequently assembled length of sheet material. The resulting label package does not require additional silicone release sheets, and the continuous sheet can be perforated and/or cut during assembly to provide a packaged supply of tear-off labels.

  • Patent number: 4900484
Abstract: A mixture of powdered metals and oxides used in ceramic welding for repairing fire brick linings of industrial ovens by blowing the powdered mix on hot oven walls in a stream of oxygen, where the powders have the characteristics providing for initial ignition of the stream of particles in the flame zone before they strike the oven wall and the oxidation continues after the particles form refractory mass on the oven wall.

  • Patent number: 4750222
Abstract: A two or three section convertible sofa bed is provided for installation in vans, campers or recreational vehicles. The convertible sofa bed is adaptable to various configurations, including motor drive, yet is comparatively easy to manufacture and maintain. It has locking and stop mechanisms which combined with the arrangement of the linkage provide for a stiff, rigid structure in the seating and bedding positions. The versions with motor drive have the additional feature of providing recliner seating with variable positions. The seat frame and back frame are not directly pivotally connected to each other, thus avoiding a gap between the seat and back cushions when in the bed position.

  • Patent number: 4609197
Abstract: The improved golf practice device disclosed herein is designed to permit golfers to practice their golf swings in a relative restricted area and to give them an indication, the power of their swings, by means of an impact measuring device attached and secured to the upper end of a rigid, hollow stake driven into the ground. A shock cord is attached at one end at the bottom of the stake and the other end is attached by appropriate means to the golf ball mounted on the top of the stake. The measuring indicator comprises a flat bar member having a central longitudinally extending slot in which is disposed a helical spring member having one of its ends secured to a plunger slideably moveable in said slot and the other end of said spring member being secured to the flat member.

  • Patent number: 4211423
Abstract: A device is provided including a pair of base sections adapted to be joined together along a generally vertical plane in approximate alignment with a pipe or other object extending through a roof or supported therein, such sections including a pair of molded plastic-supporting parts and a pair of skirt parts of elastomeric material which have overlapping edge portions and which define a downwardly facing surface secured by an adhesive to the upper surface of roofing material to provide a permanent weathertight seal. A split boot is secured to the upper end of a tubular portion of the base sections and is of a stepped, severable construction for accommodating pipes or other objects of various larger sizes. Lips at the split of the boot are secured together by a channel-shaped metal clip. For smaller objects, a split plug is secured on the upper end of the split boot and has inwardly facing annular serrations for sealing engagement with an object.

  • Patent number: 4203626
Abstract: The articulated boom-dipper-bucket assembly is utilized in a tunnel boring machine of the type which includes a hollow cylindrical body with a front circular cutting edge and a central axis on which an excavator including the assembly is positioned. The assembly includes a base having a front face facing axially of the machine and being mounted on a bulkhead having siderails which are received in channels fixed to the body and extending parallel to the central axis. A piston and cylinder mechanism is associated with the bulkhead for reciprocating same in a direction parallel to the central axis. The assembly further includes a boom having one end pivotally mounted to the front face of the base at one side thereof and a second end positioned outwardly from the base, an elongate dipper member pivotally mounted at a first inner end to the second outer end of the boom, and a bucket-scoop having an inner edge and an outer cutting edge and being pivotally mounted to a second outer end of the dipper member.

  • Patent number: 3995531
Abstract: A steam engine is provided including a piston having an upper end portion movable upwardly and downwardly within an internal cylindrical surface of a cylinder, toward and away from a top wall to define a first variable volume space while moving away from and toward annular means in sealing engagement with a lower reduced diameter portion of the piston to define a second variable volume space. A connecting rod has an upper end pivotally connected to the piston and a lower end pivotally connected to a crankshaft. A valve assembly is provided for flow of high pressure steam to the second space and for flow from the first space to an outlet during upward movement of the piston and for flow of steam from the second space to the first space during downward movement of the piston. Preferably, the piston has a lower end portion sealingly engaged with a second internal cylindrical surface of the cylinder to define a third space which is connected through breather passages to the exhaust outlet.
