  • Patent number: 4318682
Abstract: A hydraulic press having upper and lower hydraulically operated plates whereby the upper plate is movable with a long stroke cylinder and the lower plate is movable wth a short stroke cylinder. The press has a grooved load bearing rod which is attached to the upper moving plate and passes through the upper fixed plate of the press with a series of slots machined in the rod. A split ring and an especially ground shim are located on a bushing in the upper plate and in one of the ground grooves. A locking plate is attached to the lower part of the upper fixed plate and using a hydraulically operated cylinder has locking plates which move into and out of engagement with the grooved rod to accurately locate the position of the upper moving plate when the machine is stroked. This method of adjusting the horizontal position or parallelism of the plates enable very accurate positioning of the mold or dies which are mounted between the plates of the press.

  • Patent number: 4304040
Abstract: A plurality of magazine tool storage means, mounted on a machine frame, above a headstock, includes tool-holder supports each having receptors into which tool holders can be inserted. Each support is adjustable so that any of its receptors can be arranged in a predetermined changeover position for performing an automatic tool change between the support and the headstock. The magazine tool storage means are successively movable from a fitting position outside a machine working space in the region of the headstock to a standby position for the automatic tool change within the working space.

  • Patent number: 4300969
Abstract: A laminate for use in cartons for sterilized milk, fruit juices etc. consists of a cardboard web, a layer of heat-sealable thermoplastic material, preferably polyethylene, on the side of the laminate which is to form the outer sides of the cartons, and three layers of plastic material on the other side. Of these three layers, the middle layer consists of polyvinylidene chloride and the two others both consist of a plastic material of the same type as on the outer side. The innermost of these layers may be colored.

  • Patent number: 4285384
Abstract: An apparatus and method for removing tie bars from a die casting machine. The apparatus and method involves utilizing gearing attached to the tie bar nut whereby the nut is held captive, but is capable of being rotated by an auxiliary drive unit. Further, by utilizing the existing die casting machine functions, it is possible to remove the tie bar from the machine so that the die can be removed and a new die inserted into the die casting machine. By reversing the process the tie bar can now be reinserted into its operating position in the machine and the locking nut rotated to its proper position and locked up.

  • Patent number: 4282467
Abstract: This invention relates to the hydraulic control field wherein an electronic controller provides the necessary electrical elements for controlling the movement of an actuator shaft from one pre-selected position to another pre-selected position at a pre-selected velocity and provided with an automatic timing control circuit to sustain the movement or a manual operation to selectively move the actuator. The pre-selected positions and velocities are adjustable over the full range of actuator movement and velocity limit of the hydraulics.

  • Patent number: 4274773
Abstract: The invention relates to a rotary index table comprising a stationary table housing, a table plate which is designed for reception of the workpiece and rotation by a drive means mounted on said table housing, a total of three Hirth-type serrations arranged concentrically with respect to one another, namely a first on said table housing, a second on said table plate, preferably in the same plane as said first Hirth-type serration, and adjacent said first two Hirth-type serrations a third Hirth-type serration that is substantially non-rotatable, but is designed for axial adjustment and simultaneous engagement with and disengagement from said first two Hirth-type serrations so as to lock and unlock the latter, said table plate being rotatable by said drive means when the first and the second Hirth-type serrations are in the disengaged state and securable at least in angular positions determined by the pitch of the Hirth-type serrations by a brake means.

  • Patent number: 4195717
Abstract: A combination clutch and brake unit for an engine driven lift fan propeller system controls power transfer from an engine to a propeller assembly and includes a clutch selectively operated by a hydraulic piston between engaged and disengaged positions to couple a drive input to a drive output and wherein a carriage for a hydraulic piston in a clutch supports a movable brake component and shifts it with respect to a fixed reaction brake member to brake the output shaft of the device to prevent free wheeling of the lift fan propeller when it is decoupled from the engine and wherein the clutch piston is biased into its decoupled position by return springs that also maintain the brake components in an engaged positon when the clutch is decoupled.
