Abstract: A foot throttle for boats wherein an eccentric is rotated by operation of a foot pedal and wherein the eccentric is biased directly against an adjustable limiter thus eliminating imprecise positioning of the throttle caused by loose tolerances in the pedal mechanism which actuates the eccentric.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for fabrication of unitary foam panels wherein frames members are fabricated by forming metal stock into a crossectional channel configuration, cutting and swedging the channel into predetermined lengths. The frame members are swedged to provide frictional interconnection at the corners thereof upon assembly of said frame members into a rectangular frame configuration. Assembly of the frame is accomplished in a shuttle having two assembly jigs. Upon assembly, each frame is moved by the shuttle into a molding press wherein a panel of foam is molded within the frame. The shuttle moves back and forth through the molding press in a manner which provides for removal of a completed panel and assembly of an additional frame from one jig of the shuttle while the molding operation is accomplished within the molding press upon a frame retained within the other jig of the shuttle.

Abstract: A two-way rotary manifold-selecting valve forming a combustion chamber for an internal combustion engine has a frusto-conical rotor nestingly residing in a housing having a frusto-conical passage communicating with the base of the housing. The housing has a pair of ports through the side, and the rotor has a side passage entering a portion of the slanting side of the rotor and exiting at the base of the rotor. The housing is open at the bottom, and may be affixed co-axially with a cylinder of a piston-type internal combustion engine so that the interior passage within the rotor forms the combustion volume of the cylinder. The small diameter ends of the housing passage and the rotor are disposed at the bottom of the assembly when so installed. A dry-lubricated refractory sealing assembly is emplaced around the rotor and extends outwardly therefrom to engage the inner housing surface, thus holding the rotor at a standoff distance. All wear is thus confined to the seal material and the housing wall.

Abstract: A genital covering for covering only one's genitals while that person is undergoing examination and preparation for surgery, during the actual surgical procedure, and additionally while one is undergoing tanning on a tanning bed. The covering includes a front body section which is releasably adhered to the abdomen of the person and a lower elongated section which extends through the person's legs and is provided with a distal end which is releasably attached to the back of the person, in an area which is generally above the buttock area. While covering only the genitals, the person's abdomen, thighs and buttocks are left completely exposed.

Abstract: A tool for removing used, paint soaked, rollers from roller frame assemblies without the user's hands having to touch the paint soaked roller. The tool includes a handle, an enlarged C-shaped head having a semicylindrical inner surface, and a member secured to the semicylindrical inner surface of the enlarged C-shaped head for engaging one end of the paint soaked roller. The tool allows a user to hold the roller frame assembly in one hand and the tool in the other hand to push the paint soaked roller from the roller frame assembly without getting paint on the hands of the user during the removal process.

Abstract: Apparatus and method for automatically controlling on-off operation of a battery-driven water rinsing system including a water supply system having electrically actuated actuation means for actuation of the water supply system to cause water flow therefrom. The on-off operation is responsive to approach and withdrawal of a user of the water rinsing system. A control circuit including an infrared transmitter, an infrared receiver, and control means is provided. The transmitter transmits infrared energy to a user in the vicinity of the water rinsing system for reflection from the user to an infrared receiver which transmits electric signals to the control circuit and control means for controlling actuation of the water supply system. A visible light sensor is provided for generating an electrical current responsive to the presence of the user, and this generated current is disposed for energizing the control circuit.

Abstract: A longitudinally extending construction panel is adapted to interconnect with a like panel to form a waterproof connection. A leverage arrangement including a fulcrum adjacent mating surfaces of the panels is utilized to seat the mating surfaces. Rotation of a panel about the fulcrum permits the mating surfaces to be pressed together with a force sufficient to deform the contact surfaces together to provide a watertight seal therebetween. The width of the rotated panel provides a lever arm to aid in application sufficient force to accomplish the sealing effect. The fulcrum in cooperation with a support leg and a base plate, forms a water tight drain channel below the sealed contacting surfaces. Control of the dimensions of the panel permits lateral movement between assembled panels.

Abstract: A plant sprouting apparatus for continuously supplying moisture to seeds, seedlings or plants to enhance the germination and growth of the seeds, seedlings and plants. The plant sprouting apparatus comprises an outer container having moisture therein, a connecting ring, an inner container having soil and seeds, seedlings or plants therein in communication with the outer container, a reinforcing ring, and a cover or dome.

Abstract: A tornado warning system having means for monitoring seismic waves of a predetermined frequency range including long-period seismic waves and short-period seismic waves. The seismic waves are associated with and produced in the ground as a result of an approaching tornado. The warning system comprises means for detecting the seismic waves including the long-period seismic waves and the short-period seismic waves and for providing an electrical output indicative thereof. Circuit means are provided for processing the electrical output to provide an output signal indicative of the long-period seismic waves and the short-period seismic waves. Alarm means are provided for receiving the output signal from the circuit means to generate an alarm to warn of the presence of a tornado.

Abstract: An animal habitat for housing animals which allows the animals to move between two or more modules or chambers. The animal habitat comprises a plurality of lower tier modules having passageways therebetween for allowing animals to move from a lower tier module to an adjacent lower tier module and a plurality of upper tier modules having passageways therebetween for allowing animals to move from one upper tier module to an adjacent upper tier module.

Abstract: An internal combustion engine, having a compact eccentric crankshaft which permits a straight passage to be formed along the center of rotation of the crankshaft. When applied to a two cylinder engine the crankshaft design permits longitudinal alignment of opposing cylinders. The eccentric crankshaft is closely fitted within a compact crankcase to minimize crankcase volume.

Abstract: A bird feeding device comprising a hollow container for holding food and having a plurality of food dispensing openings therein; a conically shaped member within the hollow container for spreading the food towards the plurality of food dispensing openings in the hollow container; a saw tooth insert for assisting in the spreading of the food towards the plurality of food dispensing openings in the hollow container; a plurality of perches, each being in alinement with a respective food dispensing opening in the hollow container for supporting a bird when eating from the feeding device; and a chain or rope for supporting or suspending the feeding device. Each food dispensing opening in the hollow food container has an upper edge with an inwardly extending top ear and a pair of inwardly extending side ears which tend to keep food within the container and not falling through the opening.

Abstract: A ramp system attached to a load carrying vehicle having a flat bed or floor, a rear door pivotally attached along a horizontal axis to the flat bed, and at least one ramp assembly pivotally secured along a horizontal axis to a hinge bar fixed to the rear door. The combination of the rear door and the one or more ramp assemblies constitute a sloped surface for use during the loading and unloading of goods from and to the load carrying vehicle. Each ramp assembly can be readily extended for loading and unloading purposes and locked to the interior surface of the rear door of the load carrying vehicle in a generally vertical position when not being used for loading and unloading purposes.

Abstract: An adapter which enables a person to use different, selected, sizes of inexpensive, readily available, oil or air filters to act as air filters to provide greater air filtration for hydraulic systems. The adapter includes a body having an axial central opening therethrough; an enlarged, cylindrical, central section having first and second opposed surfaces; a first end section extending from the first surface of the central section and having an enlarged, externally, threaded portion; a smaller, externally, threaded portion extending from the enlarged externally threaded portion; a reduced cylindrical section attached to the second surface of the enlarged, cylindrical, section of the body; and a male bayonet locking member fixed to the free end of the reduced cylindrical section of the body for engagement with a female receptacle member attached to a fluid reservoir.

Abstract: Apparatus is disclosed for producing composite cylinders having cylinder walls comprised of two adjacent diverse layers of metal material which are bonded together by application of radial forces thereto and then sintered to complete the bonding process. Mechanical locking of the layers is achieved by grain interlocking between the two layers of metal material.

Abstract: A translucent longitudinally extending gas chamber housing having two sections, each of which includes a facial surface configured to congruently match the facial surface of the other. The sections are hermetically joined to one another at the facial surfaces thereof to form a chamber for the retention of an illuminating gas therein. Electrodes are provided where desirable within the chamber for ignition of the gas. The sections are configured for mass production typically by use of molding processes. Typically the sections include transitions from a raised portion to a flattened portion or vice versa to provide the configuration necessary for forming alphanumeric or other types illuminated of displays.

Abstract: An apparatus for dispensing moisture to one or more plants on a continuing and consistent basis. The moisture dispensing apparatus comprises a reservoir or container, a filament for suspending the reservoir or container from a suspension device, one or more hollow funnels, one or more hollow housings, one or more hollow flexible tubes, and one or more clamping members for adjustably controlling the flow of moisture to the one or more plants.

Abstract: A portable (removable) tongue for connecting a house trailer to a towing vehicle for towing the trailer from one location to another with the tongue being adapted for easy and rapid disconnection from the towing vehicle and trailer. The tongue is adapted to be attached to, and removed from, the frame which supports a house trailer and includes a coupler and hitch lock, a pair of arms connected to and diverging from the coupler and hitch lock, a first pair of coupling members associated with the free ends of each arm, and a second pair of coupling members adapted to be secured to the frame of the trailer, and a fastener for locking each first coupling member to a respective second coupling member. The tongue is adapted to be readily secured to the frame of the trailer for towing purposes and easily removed from the frame of the trailer while the trailer is parked in a trailer court for living purposes.
