Abstract: A method and apparatus prevent eavesdropping via a computer by detecting and alerting if more than one authorized driver is controlling a interface circuit that is providing audio or video input information. Further, prevention is performed by detecting and alerting if more than one authorized application programming interface is receiving audio or video input information from an authorized driver. Also, prevention is performed by detecting and alerting if more than one authorized software application is receiving audio or video input information from an authorized driver. In addition, prevention is performed by detecting and alerting upon first receipt of audio or visual information by an authorized software application via an authorized application programming interface and authorized driver.

Abstract: Alerting a calling party of a delay before an incoming call will be answered by a user of a called telecommunication terminal. The incoming call is answered by the telecommunication terminal or a switching system to which the telecommunication terminal is connected in response to an input from the user when the telecommunication terminal is not engaged in another call. An audio path of the answered call is muted from communication with the user. A message is transmitted to the calling party where the message is selected by the user.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for transmitting audio information and digital images via a wireless switching network by performing the operations of starting a photo or audio session by a digital camera or audio appliance; connecting the digital camera or audio appliance to a wireless telecommunication terminal; reserving bandwidth on the wireless switching network; transmitting digital images or audio information between the digital camera or audio appliance and a centralized database via a first path on the wireless switching network; and establishing a second path for transmission of digital images or audio information upon the first path being interrupted using the reserved bandwidth for the second path.

Abstract: A conference manager establishes and controls a conference and subconferences for a plurality of telecommunication terminals so as to reduce telecommunication costs by establishing the conference and dynamically placing telecommunication terminals geographically located with conference or isolated remote telecommunication terminals geographically located remote from the conference into the conference. The conference manager requests that other conference managers establish subconferences to conference together remote telecommunication terminals that are geographically located together. The conference manager requests that the other conference managers extend these subconferences to the conference. Further, the conference manager controls the other conference managers to interconnect the subconferences if the conference manager determines that communicating cost can be lowered by interconnecting two or more of the subconferences.

Abstract: A call center allows a customer to select the type of callback service which the customer wishes the call center to utilize when placing a call back to the customer. The call center then tests for the presence of a device specified by the customer. When the presence of the device is detected on an Internet/network, the call center will place a call to the customer via a device specified by the customer. Also, a call center allows a user to select the type of callback service which the customer wishes to use for a later communication with the call center. When the call center has the capability of providing the selected type of callback service, the call center indicates this capability by publishing a service presence. A customer device detects the published service presence and alerts the customer who establishes communication with the callback center.

Abstract: A method and apparatus determine a trust level of a path through a plurality of routers by an endpoint by transmitting a path setup message requesting a path reservation for a first path through a subset of the routers, by receiving in response to transmission of the path setup message a trust level message containing trust level information inserted by each router in the first path through the subset, and by evaluating the inserted trust level information to determine if the first path has a sufficient trust level. Another method and apparatus gather trust level information from a router by receiving a trust level message into which a trust level of the router can be inserted, by inserting trust level information of the router into the trust level message, and by re-transmitting the trust level message on a designated path.
