Abstract: A cleaning apparatus, particularly for cleaning window panes includes a shaft-like hollow handle and a replaceable approximately strip-shaped cleaning tool mounted between two clamping jaws which are adjustable relative to one another. One of the clamping jaws has an extension by with which it is connected to the handle by means of a hinged bolt. This cleaning apparatus is superior as compared with usual apparatuses in that the extension of the one clamping jaw is pivotably connected to an elongation of the handle and comprises at its broad side facing away from the elongation an arcuately extending, relatively coarse toothing which is in cooperation in a manner known per se with a spring-loaded stop lever guided in the handle and formed as a slide.

Abstract: In the case of hair brushes the arcuately shaped bristle members of which are studded with bristles, mounted in the side walls of a housing being U-shaped in cross section, are arranged in a plurality adjacently and with a distance from one another and are pivotable by means of a slide guided in the housing below these bristle members from a position of non-use into a position of use, this pivoting into the position of use and back into the position of non-use is complicated and time-consuming.This disadvantage is eliminated in that the slide has at its longitudinal edges edge cutouts facing one another, the bristle members resting between these edge cutouts on the slide in such a manner so as to be secured against unintended pivot movement. The slide can be approached with its edge cutouts to the ends of the bristle members by sliding movement in such a manner that the bristle members, by a sliding pressure by hand on the bristles, obliquely engage in the edge cutouts in the position of non-use.

Abstract: Groups of cigarettes are formed by axially extracting cigarettes from the bases of two hoppers (10, 12), each having vertical columns (14, 20) spaced apart by a cigarette diameter. The columns of the hoppers are staggered so that a cigarette extracted from the rear hopper (12) enters the gap between adjacent cigarettes of the front hopper (10, FIG. 3). The base plate (22) of the front hopper is initially higher than the base plate (18) of the rear hopper to allow clearance during intercalation of the cigarettes.

Abstract: A unitary preassembled disposable intra-oral rubber dam device comprises an annular resilient frame member such as a resilient plastic cord frame, and an elastic latex membrane, the perimeter of the membrane being secured to the frame member such that the membrane is maintained in substantially the same plane as the frame member. The annular frame member, having a predetermined configuration, has a memory characteristic such that when pressure applied to distort the frame member is relaxed the frame member returns to substantially its predetermined configuration.

Abstract: This arrangement concerns a flow guide surface for ship propellers, at least for twin propellers, the propellers being mounted by means of propeller brackets. It is provided for to arrange, at least in the region between the arms of the propeller brackets, a sectioned arcuate guide surface. This guide surface possesses a mean camber line converging backwardly towards the propeller shaft and the outlet edge has a distance to the propeller shaft amounting to between 70 and 130% of the propeller radius. This arcuate section of the guide surface is connected, on the side facing the ship's hull, to an approximately horizontal radial part.

Abstract: There is disclosed a multiple gaseous discharge display/memory panel having an electrical memory and capable of producing a visual display, the panel being characterized by an ionizable gaseous medium in a gas chamber formed by a pair of opposed dielectric material charge storage members which are respectively backed by a series of parallel-like conductor (electrode) members, the conductor members behind each dielectric material member being transversely oriented with respect to the conductor member behind the opposing dielectric material member so as to define a plurality of discrete discharge volumes constituting a discharge unit, the surface of the dielectric material having at least one oxide of Al, Ti, Zr, Hf, and Si applied thereto in an amount sufficient to provide stable panel operating voltages which do not significantly change with panel operating time.

Abstract: A mass flow of cigarettes is reduced in width as it passes downwardly through chutes into a passage in which the cigarettes are formed as a stream two rows deep. The cigarettes are fed onto a fluted drum and accelerated to form gaps between them, the cigarettes in one row being held by suction in the flutes and those in the other row resting on top of them and being kept in place by suction. From the fluted drum the cigarettes are transferred to a further fluted drum as a single row, by being fed between a stripper and a fixed plate which are positioned so that only one cigarette, from each row alternately, can pass into a flute on the further drum. The cigarettes may then be collated into groups ready for packing.

Abstract: A bandage for the continuous administration of nitroglycerin to the skin comprising a backing member defining one exterior surface, an internal backing layer with calibrations thereon for accurate measurement of the amount of nitroglycerin ointment to be deposited thereon, an adhesive layer surrounding the internal backing layer for attachment to the skin, and a releasable backing member applied to the adhesive layer.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for monitoring wear associated with a particular cyclically moving part in a machine, the machine comprising a plurality of moving parts and operating in a succession of cycles. Apparatus is provided for generating a first signal at a predetermined position and direction of movement of the moving part, for generating a second signal at a predetermined cyclic position in each machine cycle, for producing a third signal indicative of the interval of time between the first signal and the second signal, and for forming a comparison with a reference signal to determine the extent of wear associated with the particular moving part.

Abstract: A device for inserting coupons in cigarette packets, in particular in hinge lid packets, includes a guide rail 14, 16 parallel to the packing conveyor 2 for raising the lower edge 11 of the inner frame 10 away from the cigarette bundle 6 so that a coupon C can be fed edgewise under the gap. A plough rail 48 may push down the inner frame on to the coupon after it has been inserted.

Abstract: Apparatus for assembling and forming first and second articles of rod-like configuration into at least one composite rod includes a wheel (14) for alternately axially separating the first articles or tobacco sections (10) which are then transversely shifted in opposite directions by a wheel (16) onto two parallel moving conveyors on which the first articles or tobacco sections are spaced axially forming respective rod lines (11A, 11B). The second articles or filter portions (20) are conveyed towards the respective conveyors and introduced into the spaces between the first articles or tobacco sections on each rod line by means of a further wheel (18). The second articles or filter portions may be initially supplied as a single line and divided into two streams by staggering on the wheel (18).

Abstract: A self-adhesive medicinal plaster comprises a continuous adhesive coating on one surface of a carrier web, a plurality of non-permeable, separating film elements spaced from each other on the surface of the adhesive coating and a plurality of active ingredient elements containing a medication, each disposed on the surface of one of the separating film elements whereby the medicated active ingredient composition is isolated from the adhesive composition.

Abstract: A toothbrush is provided which has a headpiece with a cylindrical brush and a handle. By means of a gravity switch the direction of rotation of the brush is reversed according to the turning movement of the handle, in order to automatically maintain a direction of rotation of the brush from the gums to the crown of the tooth. In order to obtain the correct position of the toothbrush, the brush is provided with a protecting cap leaving an opening in order to form a working region. The gravity switch is arranged parallel to the plane of the free working region of the brush.

Abstract: A self-adhesive medicinal plaster comprises a plurality of adhesive elements spaced from each other on a surface of a carrier web and a plurality of active ingredient elements, containing a medication, spaced from each other and from the active ingredient elements on the surface of the carrier web whereby the medicinal active ingredient composition is isolated from the adhesive composition.
