  • Patent number: 6571136
Abstract: A method and an electronic circuit arrangement is provided which allows observation of bus-systems and networks. In particular the method and circuit arrangement does not cause electrical or physical constraints and influence to the bus-systems and networks. Still more specifically it provides for accessing static bus-systems and networks in particular used by real-time constrained systems and applications such as in automotive vehicles.

  • Patent number: 6560201
Abstract: Method and apparatus are provided for re-synchronizing a group of B channels in an ISDN network using the BONDING Mode 1 specification. Re-synchronization is achieved without the need to first disconnect the affected group of B channels from the network. Thus, the reliability of the bonded channels is improved while maintaining a simpler architecture than those associated with BONDING Modes 2 and 3. The solution offers improved channel reliability, improved network performance and reduced network load when channel re-synchronization becomes necessary.

  • Patent number: 6490677
Abstract: A method and system for automatically configuring a boot process of a network computer initially connected within a network comprising at least one server. A request is broadcast from a network computer to a network for an available server, upon a first initiation of the network computer within the network. Responses from the broadcast are gathered which indicate whether a server is available. A selected boot program is then executed from among multiple boot programs available in the network computer. The selected boot program and the identity of an available server are stored as boot process configuration settings in a nonvolatile storage of the network computer, in response to successful execution of the boot program, such that a subsequent boot process of a network computer is automatically configured.

  • Patent number: 6487465
Abstract: A system and method of improving security during power-on-self-test (POST), particularly the ROM scan portion identifying ROM adapters, while selectively allowing user input. While a user input during ROM scan may be normally locked out to prevent the user from making changes to the configuration of the system, when the ROM scan during POST detects a ROM adapter which uses an input from the user, the system can override the lockout and allows for a user input. An optional control, such as a password or other personal identifier, can provide security, allowing the user input only when the user is authorized to provide the input (in response to an appropriate password or personal identifier such as a biometric identifier).

  • Patent number: 6466994
Abstract: A method and system for programming a computer board including a nonvolatile storage is disclosed. The nonvolatile storage is for storing a program. The method and system include providing a peripheral controller coupled with the nonvolatile storage and coupling the peripheral controller with a host system. The method and system further include allowing the system board to be recognized by the host system as a peripheral. The method and system further include loading the program from the host system to the nonvolatile storage.
