    Abstract: An electrical circuit card adapted to be inserted into a grounded, electrically conductive housing comprises an insulative circuit board, an insulative faceplate coupled to the circuit board along the front edge thereof, and an electrically conductive shielding strip or shunt located behind the faceplate for reducing EMI emissions from the circuit card. The shielding strip comprises an intermediate portion extending generally vertically along the rear surface of the faceplate, and upper and lower contacts adapted to be brought into electrical contact with the housing when the circuit card is inserted into the housing. At least one of the upper and lower contacts is arranged to be brought into contact with a non-outwardly facing surface of the housing, such as the edge of a designator strip located above or below the opening in which the circuit card is received.

    Abstract: An optical fiber storage system is provided for use in an equipment rack containing at least one removable optical interface card. The storage system includes a holder for holding a length of optical fiber for connection to the optical interface card. The holder is mounted for movement between a closed position in which access to the optical fiber is prevented, and an open position allowing access to the optical fiber. An actuating device, which may comprise a portion of the optical interface card itself, is provided for causing the holder to move from the closed position to the open position upon withdrawal of the optical interface card.

    Abstract: An improved ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) device requires manual setting following initial connection to an AC power source or termination of a power source interruption. The improved GFCI device utilizes a controlled switching device which is responsive to a load power signal for allowing the relay contact sets of the GFCI device to be closed only when power is being made available at the output or load terminals. The controlled switching device preferably comprises an opto-isolator or other type of switching device which provides isolation between the GFCI input and output terminals when the relay contact sets are open. The improved GFCI device may be incorporated into portable units, such as plug-in or line cord units, for use with unprotected AC receptacles.

    Abstract: A circuit card assembly adapted to be coupled to a housing for reducing the amount of electromagnetic interference (EMI) escaping from the housing into the environment. The circuit card assembly includes a printed circuit board, an insulative faceplate coupled to the front edge of the printed circuit board, and a shielding assembly. The shielding assembly includes an electrically conductive strip extending along the rear surface of the insulative faceplate, and a grounding path coupled to the printed circuit board and electrically coupled to the conductive strip. The grounding path provides a reliable, solid, positive ground between the conductive strip and the housing upon insertion of the printed circuit board into the housing.
