  • Patent number: 4189179
Abstract: A low profile chair iron for controlling biased tilting between a seat or backrest and a support uses a substantially flat coil spring of increasingly smaller diameter coils between pivotably connected support bracket and a chair part bracket. Tension adjusting means for the spring are pivotably mounted with respect to the central coils of the spring and/or support bracket for minimizing nonuniform loading of the spring during the pivotable movement of the chair part bracket with respect to the support bracket.

  • Patent number: 4181921
Abstract: A harmonic distortion attenuator in an AC power supply for reducing electrical energy consumption through the suppression of transient voltages in power supply lines or the like connected to the circuitry wherein a threshold voltage clamp, responsive to a transient, closes an electrical path between the power supply lines. A triac or current responsive device is provided in parallel with the threshold voltage clamp to shunt the current flow from the clamp when the current through the clamp rises above a predetermined limit.

  • Patent number: 4177028
Abstract: An apparatus for producing a foamed sheet of material has a mixing head mounted on a frame which is positioned on a track for longitudinal movement. The mounting head also engages a worm gear for vertical movement. Below the mixing head is a sloped portion of a conveyor. The sloped portion of the conveyor comprises a pair of stationary central panels and a right and left pair of panels. Each pair of panels is hinged together and slide toward and away from the longitudinal axis of the central panels. A paper sheet slides over the panels onto a level bottom conveyor. Vertical side fences are adjacent the side edges of the bottom conveyor panels. A paper sheet slides along the inside surface of each side fence at the same speed of the bottom sheet of paper. A worm gear adjusts the distance between the side fences. The sloped portion of the conveyor has a height adjustment mechanism at its upper and lower end and at the hinged portion of the panel. The central panels have air passages therethrough.

  • Patent number: 4176592
Abstract: A skewer for shish-ke-bob and the like comprises a cylindrically shaped handle having circumferential grooves and a concave recess near one end to provide a grip for a human hand. A shaft extends from one end of the handle. The shaft has a free pointed end and a small flange extending from the pointed end. A second shaft has one of its ends coiled about the first shaft for slidable movement with respect to the first shaft. The little flange prevents the second shaft from sliding off the first shaft. The flange can be threaded through the coil to detach the second shaft from the first shaft. A plate marker having apertures therethrough slides over both shafts. The plurality of apertures have distinctive markings. The plate is slidable along the shafts for pushing food off of the skewer shafts.

  • Patent number: 4172545
Abstract: A planetary wire feeder for feeding wire workpieces such as welding wire for a MIG or TIG welding operation comprises two sets of rollers connected to rotate in unison about the axis of the wire and radially spaced from each other in a housing. Roller holders have an axially tapered outer surface and are axially movable within the housing. Stationary gibs mounted within the housing with complementary tapered surfaces adjust the spacing between the roller holders at different axial positions of the roller holders within the housing. A nipple is provided on one roller holder tapered outer surface to equalize the pressure of each set of rollers on the wire.

  • Patent number: 4169592
Abstract: An electronic reflex game wherein one of a plurality of switches is manipulated by a player to deactuate one of a plurality of light bulbs. An actuation device randomly actuates one of three light bulbs. Three corresponding switches are situated below the lights wherein each switch deactuates the light above it. The actuation device includes a variable frequency oscillator which generates pulses to trigger one of three lights. The variable frequency oscillator also determines the amount of time within which the switches can deactuate the lights. Each time a correct switch is pressed during a limited time period, a counter indicates the correct hit and a new light is actuated at random. A timing device gradually increases the frequency of the variable frequency oscillator as the game progresses so the time period when a switch can deactuate the light gradually shortens as the game progresses.

  • Patent number: 4169975
Abstract: An apparatus for converting three-phase electrical energy into direct current includes Scott-connected transformers with oppositely biased SCRs connected in parallel to two of three input terminals. The SCRs are controlled so that they fire in alternate and rotating sequence between the two input terminals. The secondary output voltages of four terminals are rectified so that the common rectified output voltage is a substantially DC voltage with a minimum ripple. The secondary output terminals are aligned in a common plane and are connected to deformable, tapered leads. The rectifiers are connected between the deformable leads and to a common slotted, conductive plate which is connected to a welding electrode. A center tap from each of the secondary windings is connected to another welding electrode. The deformable tapered leads and the slotted conductive plate provide an equal resistive path for pairs of rectifiers for each secondary output to equalize the current flow through the two sets of diodes.
