Abstract: Apparatus for the in situ inspection of a nuclear reactor vessel to detect the location and character of flaws in the walls of the vessel, in the welds joining the various sections of the vessel, in the welds joining attachments such as nozzles, elbows and the like to the reactor vessel and in such attachments wherein an inspection head carrying one or more ultrasonic transducers follows predetermined paths in scanning the various reactor sections, welds and attachments.

Abstract: A manually operated loom for the weaving of two and/or three thread fabrics of various designs wherein the warp threads are individually detachably mounted and guided in opposed, axially movable arrays on parallel axes for circulation of the warp threads in clockwise or counterclockwise directions, each pair of opposed warp threads being held substantially parallel with adjacent pairs to the vertexes formed by serrations in an angularly positionable main guide running parallel to the axes of the arrays, means for reciprocating the arrays toward and away from each other to interchange the positions of the warp threads in each pair of opposed warp threads to form closed and open sheds respectively, means for passing a weft thread through a shed and an axially movable, angularly positionable control guide running parallel with the main guide for positioning a weft thread over the main guide to complete the weave and for shifting the warp threads of an array to adjacent serrations in the formation of three thread
Abstract: Apparatus for the on-line detection and location of weld flaws wherein the acoustic emissions from a fault are segregated from other acoustic emissions by recognizing those emissions from the weld zone falling within a predetermined band of frequencies and locating the fault by determining the time required for the recognized emissions to travel to two spaced apart predetermined points.
Abstract: A fastener for joining heavy walled ferrous or non-ferrous metal workpieces comprising a solid metal cylinder disposed within a circular recess in a workpiece and having one or more bore holes each forming an acute angle with the axis of the cylinder extending through the cylinder from one end face to and through the cylindrical wall adjacent to the other end face receiving and directing a projectile whereby the projectile forms a wedge deforming the adjacent surfaces of the workpiece, cylinder and projectile thereby locking together the projectile, workpiece and cylinder. The cylinder may be provided with a circumferential recess housing a sealing gasket, such as an O-Ring, to provide a pressure type seal between the cylinder and a workpiece.
Abstract: A composite transducer for the measurement of a physical condition such as, but not limited to, temperature, pressure, liquid level, rate of flow, concentration of a constituent gas in a mixture of gases, or neutron flux density; wherein the output signal of a prompt responding but relatively inaccurate sensor is combined with the output signal of a slow responding but relatively accurate sensor to generate a composite transducer output signal having a response time comparable to that of the fast responding sensor and an accuracy equal to that of the slow responding sensor.
Abstract: A system for the automatic repetitive transfer of rough workpieces from a conveyor to the machining position in a machine tool and the transfer of finished workpieces from the machining position to the conveyor.
Abstract: A co-ordinated control system for a nuclear power producing unit having a pressurized water reactor, a plurality of once through steam generators through which the coolant from the reactor is circulated in parallel, and a turbine generator supplied steam from the steam generators for the production of electric power.
Abstract: A fluidic device having a sensing nozzle remotely mounted from an emitter assembly and communicating with it through a connecting tube. An adjustable nozzle assembly, located within the emitter assembly, is movable with respect to an outlet and aligned orifice to provide a zero level output signal from the outlet for various lengths of connecting tube. The nozzle assembly is also adjustable to provide a range independent zero level output signal for different pressure level sensitivities. A test jack communicates with the outlet to monitor the output signal and provide for adjusting the zero level output signal.
Abstract: A mobile fluid coupled test probe wherein communication between a transducer and an object under inspection is maintained through a fluid couplant which also serves to maintain engagement of the probe with the object.
Abstract: A furnace draft control for a fossil fuel fired steam generator wherein the rates of flow of fuel, air and flue gas are adjusted in parallel in accordance with changes in power demand and the forced and induced drafts are adjusted in opposite directions as required to maintain furnace draft at set point.
Abstract: A coordinated control system for a power producing unit consisting of two, single reheat steam generators supplying steam to a single turbine-generator.
