Abstract: A fully automated method and apparatus is disclosed to laminate various structural articles with a layer of resin impregnated fiber tape. The tape laying member removes a releasable backing layer from the tape being employed, then deposits the unbacked tape on the surface of the structural article, and finally severs the end of the tape being deposited. An automated cut and restart procedure is employed in the present tape laying member to increase tape throughput.

A novel furnace apparatus and method for its operation to achieve these benefits is disclosed.
Abstract: A fiber reinforced thermoplastic pipe member is obtained by a novel continuous process in which the reinforcement fibers are wrapped about the outer pipe surface in an unbonded condition while the pipe member continuously moves in a linear direction and which is followed by sufficient heating of the moving fiber wrapped pipe member to cause thermal bonding between the applied fibers and the pipe member. Automated apparatus for carrying out the continuous process is also disclosed.
Abstract: An optical inspection system is disclosed to detect any cross threading or improper insertion of a threaded fastener after being affixed to a workpiece. A plurality of laser devices is used for said inspection with the projected laser beams becoming partially blocked by the engaged fastener member. Gap spaces are formed in the projected light beam patterns by such obstruction for a subsequent comparison in automated analysis equipment.

Abstract: A measurement system is disclosed enabling the operator of a rotary printing press to continuously discern the contact pressure being exerted during the printing of a visual image. The measurement system requires the pressure sensing components being employed to cooperate with further sensing components detecting angular position of the printing plates when the pressure measurements are being carried out to produce a continuous visual display for the press operator.
Abstract: The present invention relates to polyurethane foam spray guns and disposable, attachable nozzles. The spray gun has at least two barrels and metering chambers containing continuous passageways defined by inner bores. Each inner bore can have at least one ramp-shaped slot for controlled metering of a resin. Within each barrel and metering chamber is a plunger. At the front end of the plunger but not the tip is an O-ring that aids in the control of the metering of each resin. At the mid-section of the plunger is at least one O-ring that aids in the prevention of leakage within the spray gun. Both the plunger tip and the discharge opening of each barrel/metering chamber are narrowed/conical. The nozzle contains a one-way valve to prevent the crossover of the resins. The nozzle's tip has different shapes depending on the structure of the foam product desired.
Abstract: An operationally improved gas powered metal discharge valve is disclosed having fewer non-welded internal parts to release pressurized gas into a storage vessel containing granular material for the purpose of aiding flow of the granular material from the storage vessel. Structural modification of the valve construction and the physical connection of said valve to the storage vessel are described.
Abstract: The insulation component of a radiant electric heater device formed with fused silica particulates is combined in the device during its construction. Final preparation of the insulation takes place after assembly in a metal dish of the device.
Abstract: A continuous fiber reinforced thermoplastic pipe coupling is disclosed having improved resistance to applied stress when used with pipe lengths being joined together. The fiber reinforcement is aligned during placement in a particular manner and placed at a predetermined fiber angles dictated mechanical forces being applied such as by internal fluid pressures in the coupled pipe lengths.

Abstract: A method to produce fused quartz particulates from quartz sand is disclosed employing continuous withdrawal of the molten material from a furnace apparatus. Abstract: A tamper resistant and tamper evident detachable cover is provided for a dispensing container so that any premature removal of the cover before customer purchase can be visually detected. The cover employs a closed opening in the top surface for subsequent perforation by the customer after purchase in order to release the cover.
Abstract: Vibration and noise are considerably reduced in a pneumatic impact tool by structure generating a novel vibration dampening action during tool operation. Dampening chamber members in the tool undergo compression when the reciprocating work member recoils as a method for such attenuation. Resilient seal members are further included in the tool construction to assist with the vibration dampening effect. Inclusion of oppositely biased spring members in the tool construction still further reduces the vibration attenuation.
