  • Patent number: 4251971
Abstract: Pointed novel stakes which may be of metal or plastic, adapted to be driven in alignment into the ground or bed upon which a concrete slab is to be poured, are provided with lever arms engaging a lifting wire or rod upon which reinforcing material, such as welded wire mesh is supported. The upper ends of the lever arms are adapted to be moved through an arc of about 45 degrees to a vertical position, and serve to raise the reinforcing material to a predetermined position above the bed of the slab when the lifting wires or rods are moved in a lateral direction.

  • Patent number: 4188941
Abstract: A solar heating system including a unit for converting the sun's rays into heat, comprising an insulated tank lined with a heat reflecting metal and containing a fluid heat transfer medium, a cover of insulating material enclosing the top of the tank, having a series of apertures therein, which may be of conical shape, heat absorbing metal positioned below the apertures and immersed in the fluid heat transfer medium, a framework located above the apertured tank cover supporting a lens system comprising a plurality of lenses located directly over the apertures and focused on the heat absorbing metal immersed in the heat transfer medium, means for maintaining the lens system in focus with the heat absorbing metal during daylight hours, and means for circulating the fluid heat transfer medium through the solar heating unit and through a heat exchanger.

  • Patent number: 4172799
Abstract: A septic tank system having an improved outlet which may be readily installed in existing septic tanks without modification of the tank or outlet fittings, to prevent the discharge of particles of sewage suspended in the effluent from passing directly into the drain field, the outlet including a "T", a dual conic deflector composed of two cones joined at their bases and flexibly supported directly below the open lower end of the "T" to deflect therefrom effluent containing solid particles rising from the bottom of the tank during the fermentation process. The flexible mounting permits sidewise displacement of the conic deflector so that the upright portion of the "T" can be reamed to remove any accumulation of deposits therefrom, the conic deflector being weighted so as to return to its original position after the reaming operation has been completed.

  • Patent number: 4052961
Abstract: An apparatus for uniformly distributing seed oysters over a previously prepared seed bed, comprising a shallow draft vessel having a V-shaped hold, a channel in the lower portion of the hold running substantially the length of the vessel, the sides defining the channel extending through and a short distance beyond the bow of the vessel, an endless belt conveyor mounted in the channel, a centrifugal spinner disk located below the discharge end of the endless conveyor, power means to operate the endless conveyor belt and the centrifugal spinner disk, a series of short plates which rest on the lower portion of the V-shaped hold, which are readily removable to expose progressively portions of the endless conveyor belt as the load of seed oysters is distributed, propulsion means mounted at the stern of the vessel so that the same may be readily maneuvered, the upper surface of the conveyor belt and the centrifugal spinner disk being coated with a soft resilient material to prevent injury to the seed oysters.
