  • Patent number: 7974063
Abstract: A hybrid surge protector for a network interface device (NID) is disclosed. The hybrid surge protector includes a fail-safe spring connected to the ground electrode of a three-electrode gas tube. Tabs on the fail-safe spring are held away from the gas-tube end electrodes by a fusible element. The hybrid surge protector also includes metal-oxide varistor elements (“MOVs”) in contact with the gas-tube end electrodes and with the ground electrode via an MOV spring. This arrangement provides for two initial paths to ground-one path from the gas-tube end electrodes to the ground electrode through the gas tube, and another from the gas-tube end electrodes to the ground electrode through the MOVs and the MOV spring. The dominant path to ground starts as the MOV ground path but switches to the gas-tube path as the gas tube becomes activated. Another path to ground via the fail-safe spring is also available should the gas tube overheat.

  • Patent number: 7660508
Abstract: Terminal shields are provided that are configured to protect an optical terminal device. The terminal shield comprises a first portion configured to be secured with respect to the optical terminal device. The terminal shield further comprises a second portion pivotally attached to the first portion. The second portion is configured to be pivoted relative to the first portion between an open orientation to provide access to an area of the optical terminal device and a closed orientation with the terminal shield disposed about a portion of the optical terminal device.

  • Patent number: 7619160
Abstract: An enclosure for housing communications equipment at a subscriber premises includes at least one cable port for receiving a service provider cable, a subscriber cable, and a ground cable. The enclosure further includes a housing having a base and an outer cover movably attached to the base between an opened position and a closed position so as to define a housing interior volume when the outer cover is in the closed position. A grounding post extends from the base within the housing interior volume and is electrically connectable with the ground cable. Active electronic components located in the housing interior volume connect the service provider cable with the subscriber cable. A service provider security nut attachable to the grounding post both fixes the active electronic components within the housing and grounds the active electronic components to the grounding post and the ground cable.

  • Patent number: 7620287
Abstract: A telecommunications housing includes a plurality of outer walls defining a housing interior volume and an exit. A plurality of adapters is disposed on an interior panel for connection to connectors of fiber optic cables. At least one radius guide is mounted in the interior volume and has a cable guide portion configured to receive portions of the fiber optic cables and guide the fiber optic cables toward the exit without violating a predetermined minimum fiber optic bend radius. An external guide member may also be located on the outside the housing adjacent the exit. The external guide member has a cable guide portion configured to receive portions of the fiber optic cables and guide the fiber optic cables away from the exit without violating a predetermined minimum fiber optic bend radius.
