Abstract: The present invention relates to a fuel level indicator for a heating unit, such as a stove or furnace. In particular, the invention relates to an indicator for a wood burning heating unit with a grate which is slightly elevated when there is insufficient wood causing an electrical signal which may be used with a light or buzzer to indicate the need for fuel or with a conveyor automatically to feed fuel into the heating unit.
Abstract: An enclosure for preventing the loss of heat and moisture through a ceiling entrance. The enclosure includes a flexible envelope with a fastening means to permit ingress and egress through the ceiling entrance while insulating the ceiling with a dead air space when the entrance is closed.
Abstract: A flexible dough is rolled into a sheet. A section of the sheet is removed and a pastry portion is inserted within the space where the section was removed. The sheet with the inserted pastry is prebaked. On the prebaked sheet are placed prepared foods such as pasta and meat and then the sheet with the prepared foods thereon and the inserted pastry are baked together, resulting in a food product, which after the portion has been removed, can be either eaten open on a platter or folded into a sandwich to be eaten in the hand apart from the pastry.
Abstract: An emergency air vent structure actuated by smoke, gas or oxygen deficiency sensors to permit the influx of fresh air to an enclosure. The emergency air vent structure is characterized by a spring-actuated panel which is released by means of a rocker arm and latch actuated by a solenoid which solenoid is operated by any one of a number of detectors such as smoke, gas or oxygen deficiency. Upon opening of the panel, an alarm is sounded giving an audible warning of the unsafe conditions within the building.
Abstract: An attachment for use with a chain saw to determine accurately the length of wood being cut, said attachment including a C-channel attached to the base of the chain saw with a measuring bar slidably mounted in the C-channel and adapted to be secured at any position. Two graduated scales on the bar indicate the distance from the cutting chain to either end of the measuring bar.
Abstract: A furnace with a combustion compartment and a heat exchanger compartment connected by a channel having a secondary air inlet for efficiently burning wood and absorbing the heat of combustion.
Abstract: A pitching target with ball return which indicates whether a baseball pitch is either a strike or a ball and, if a strike, the location of the strike, i.e.: outside corner. The ball return includes an inclined ball collecting trough for return of the thrown ball to the pitcher for reuse. The target includes a frame which supports a series of flap panels suspended in the same plane and within the frame. The panels are arranged in three rows and three columns. The panels in the central column are wider in the horizontal dimension than the two outside panels but have the same vertical dimension as the panels on each side thereof.
Abstract: A trolling device in the form of a buoyant underwater plane with forward and rearward swept back wings on an elongated body. Heavy spheres loosely located in compartments within the elongated body start underwater oscillation.
Abstract: A fence for enclosing impurities floating on water having an elongated two-ply band of material with the two plies fused together in selected areas and with unfused sections extending between the two longitudinal edges and with unfused sections extending between the two side edges with weighted floating pickets placed within the longitudinally spaced openings.
Abstract: A guard member is secured at one end adjacent the pivot point of a pair of scissor blades having opposed cutting edges. The guard member extends away from the cutting edge at an acute angle and downward to form a narrow slot at the outside edge of the cutting blade forming an open space between the guard member and a substantial portion of the cutting edge.
Abstract: Heat-absorbing bars having a V-shape are placed parallel to one another in a spaced relationship over a reflective surface. Sunlight strikes the bars on their exposed surface and also off the reflective surface against the underside of the bars. Water tubes may also be used.
Abstract: A pair of plungers engage the hinges of an automobile trunk, said plungers being actuated by a piston and cylinder assembly connected to the vacuum manifold of the automobile by a conduit with a valve located in said conduit.
Abstract: A reed-holding device for retaining a single reed on the mouthpiece of a woodwind instrument such as a clarinet or saxophone. A string extends from brackets. Grooves in the brackets maintain various sections of the string equally-spaced from one another.
Abstract: An anchoring system for use in anchoring structures such as mobile homes to the ground by use of elongated flexible belts. The belt is wound so as to be firmly clamped by its own tension.
Abstract: A method of detecting an excessive temperature at electrical wiring devices and detector for indicating by means of a color change an electrical failure at a wiring device which failure results in an excessive temperature increase.
Abstract: An anchoring system for use in anchoring structures such as mobile homes to the ground by use of elongated flexible belts. The belt is wound so as to be firmly clamped by its own tension.
Abstract: A wood-splitting attachment actuated by the hydraulic bucket actuator of a backhoe detachably mounted on the dip stick of a backhoe in place of the bucket of the backhoe.
Abstract: A braking system for engaging a vehicle's wheel including a first braking step to retard the vehicle and a second braking step to halt the vehicle while still avoiding skidding.
