  • Patent number: 4985833
Abstract: An extended coverage monetary regulation system for automatically distributing customer deposits to multiple financial institutions so as to obtain F.D.I.C. or F.S.L.I.C. coverage for the full amount of the deposits regardless of the amount. The system of the present invention enables depositors to deal with a single financial institution regardless of the amount of funds deposited and still obtain federal insurance for their funds. Further, the invention provides immediate access to these funds and unlimited withdrawals. A central transaction control center monitors deposits and assigns them, in co-mingled form, to institutions not excluded by the terms of the agreement between the depositor and the control center. The depository institutions receive the funds in co-mingled form and handle them in lump sum.

  • Patent number: 4976077
Abstract: An adjustable height stanchion, secured to a concrete member by a tensional anchor, supports a segment of a manufactured structure at its up end. Its design permits its insertion after the anchor is in place and the structure has been placed in its final location and elevation, with very little loss of height adjustment capability. All forms of the invention accommodate misallignment of the structure's longitudinal support member with respect to the previously installed anchor. A preferred form accommodates misallignment by rotating the stanchion around its single anchor bolt for perfect allignment, thereby affording a much needed larger vertical adjustment capability.

  • Patent number: 4872985
Abstract: A method and means for application of wastewater to plants for improved wastewater treatment having an overhead distribution system for application of wastewater to plants. Purification of agricultural, commercial, domestic, mining and industrial liquid wastes by passage of said wastes through a shallow basin, pond, tank or the like covered with water or other species of Pontederiaceae, e.g. Pontederia spp., in particular, and other species cultured in a hydroponic mode in conjunction with or separately from Pontederiaceae, is accomplished by distribution of recycled liquid waste onto leaves and stems of the plants by spraying, sprinkling, splashing or the like.

  • Patent number: 4828193
Abstract: A one handed sheet holder for enabling a user to tear off the desired amount of sheets from a roll single handedly. The sheet holder is conformed to be attached to a standard sheet dispensing means, such as a toilet paper dispenser, a paper towel dispenser, and the like. The sheet holder has one or more retaining slots cut into the top of the holder which are wider at the opening and narrower at the ending of the slot. As a result, sheets drawn into the slot are forced to the narrow ending, bunch, and tear leaving the end of the roll of the paper captured in the slot and the desired amount of paper for use in the user's hands. As a result, handicapped and other individuals can easily secure the desired amount of rolled sections of tissue single handedly. Further, the end of the roll is captured and displayed so that it can be simply and easily retained when further sections of paper are desired.

  • Patent number: 4796379
Abstract: An artificial "plug" or "crankbait" fishing lure that once cast, or placed in the water, dives unaided (without applying line force) vertically to the lake or river bottom or until retrieved. As it dives it wobbles in a fish attracting manner (e.g. as if it were a wounded bait fish). Once on the bottom it comes to rest with its treble hook supported well off the bottom, to avoid snagging. When retrieved by reeling in, it exhibits a fish-attracting wobble. The lure has unlimited operating depth. Once in the water the lure can reach any depth by letting it dive vertically on a slack (no tension) line to the desired depth and then retrieving it by manipulating the fishing rod in conjunction with the reeling speed. The lure can be bounced along the bottom during the retrieve or kept swimming in open water. A retrieval mode commonly called "jigging" by fishermen (making a saw-tooth path by alternate lure dives and reel cranking while manipulating the rod tip) can effectively be achieved.

  • Patent number: 4793110
Abstract: Tubular columns of approximately rectangular cross section secured and supported at their lower ends by deformable sockets, pre-cast in concrete at grade level or floor level, and support a structure at their upper ends and/or along their length. The socket has three vertical sides and one sloping side, to receive the column and a wedge, which is driven to secure the column. All forces between the wedge, column, and socket are passed through the socket and retained by the concrete, so that bending loads upon the column are limited only by the bending strength of the column itself. Vertical movement of the column out of the socket is restricted by friction from the extreme pressure generated by the driven wedge upon the column, socket, and concrete.

  • Patent number: 4643419
Abstract: Apparatus and method of providing for a secure, rigidly positioned exercise platform to be utilized in conjunction with a fixed standup or sitdown cycling machine or any ordinary moveable cycling device. The device utilizes two oppositely positioned exercise platforms fixedly attached to platform shafts. These platform shafts are supported by carrier housings that are attached to a main shaft by means of a spacing and support bar. Stationary gears are attached to the ends of each platform shaft and are oppositely attached to the ends of the main shaft carrier housing. A free spinning connection means, in the form of a belt or a gear, is employed to connect the platform shaft gears and main shaft carrier housing gear. In operation, as a result of this configuration, the exercise platforms are held in a fixed position throughout the exercise cycle.

  • Patent number: 4612774
Abstract: Apparatus and method for providing an ice cooled fan screen. The invention is composed of a support frame into the top of which is designed a chamber suitable for holding ice. The chamber has a floor which slopes towards one side of the screen so that melting ice water will collect there. Connected to the floor at the lower end of the chamber is a hollow copper tube which receives the ice water and directs it through a series of "S" turns downward to the base of the support frame. The end of the copper tube has a positive shut off valve so that the ice water may be retained within the tube as long as desired. The base of the support is further designed to provide for a melted ice chamber. Located within this chamber is a removable refreezing tray which is connected to the positive shut off valve by a draining means. As described, the ice cooled fan screen is suitable for placement in front of any common fan to provide for a unique, inexpensive means to substantially cool living, working and playing areas.
