  • Patent number: 5201860
Abstract: An air purification planter is disclosed which comprises a receptacle; an aeration assembly; a pot-growing plant; and, a potting media. The receptacle is of the type utilized commercially. A portion of said aeration assembly is sized and proportioned to fit within said receptacle. In the preferred embodiment, a commercial receptacle is perforated near the bottom of said receptacle in order to permit communication of said aeration assembly from the interior to the exterior of said receptacle. The aeration assembly includes an electric fan which connects to the exterior end. The fan draws air through the potting media, by the root system, and through the aeration assembly, and recirculates the cleansed air.An alternative embodiment of the air purification planter utilizes a totem concept, and, comprises an aeration assembly; and a trellis-growing plant. In the alternate embodiment, the potting media is combined with activated charcoal to be wrapped about said aerating section.

  • Patent number: 5192486
Abstract: An improved FIOR processing plant and method for reducing raw iron ore fines into a 90+% metallized briquette product utilizing a multi-stage fluidized bed reactor in which the reducing and fluidizing gases are the products of partial combustion of methane with oxygen, the gases being introduced into an intermediate zone of the reducing tower above the stage or stages where final metallization occurs. Said processing plant including an ore preparation and feed assembly, a multi-stage reactor assembly, a briquetting assembly, a recycle and fresh reducing gas assembly, and, a heat recuperation assembly.

  • Patent number: 5185032
Abstract: A fluidized bed direct process for reducing raw iron ore fines and directly producing an iron product comprises a process for feeding raw iron ore fines into a multi-stage reactor assembly; a process for reducing fines in fluidized beds developed by a counter-current flow of reducing gas, where the reducing gas is developed in a process for directly producing slag and iron in a gasifier/smelter assembly; a process for producing iron by further reducing and removing impurities from a part of the reduced iron ore in a gasifier/smelter assembly; a process for compacting excess reduced iron ore; and, a process for preparing reducing gas from offgas exiting said gasifier/smelter assembly; and, a process for recycling spent reducing gas exiting said reactor assembly. The processed offgas is 100% utilizable as reducing gas by balancing the reduced iron ore between the gasifier/smelter and compacting assemblies.

  • Patent number: 4903004
Abstract: An all-weather digital distance measuring and signalling system for a vehicle specifically intended for accurately measuring distances of obstructions, such as behind a truck as it is being backed up. An array of transducer devices having independent sending and receiving capabilities are mounted on a support frame, such as a rear bumper. A pulsed signal emanating from a transistor amplifier circuit is timed as it is converted to an ultrasonic wave signal by each transducer device, simultaneously emitted and received by said transducer devices, and returned as a pulsed signal. Said signal being returned after bouncing back from an obstruction and the time of said return being converted into a distance value by digital converter circuitry. Said digital converter circuitry in turn sends said signal to a digital display device. In addition to displaying a digital read-out, said display device emits a periodic beeping sound and flasher tied to the signal and increasing in speed until a distance of 1.

  • Patent number: 4884627
Abstract: An omni-directional heat pipe for cooling a local heat area, such as in electronic circuitry, including a sealed cavity for containment of multiple capillary-like coolant paths which may be inter-connectable or otherwise disposed in order to facilitate wide angle heat transfer dispersion. Said sealed cavity may be compressed as between said local heat areas and local cool areas. Said multiple capillary-like coolant paths comprising flexible tubing structured to permit ready flow of heat through evaporation at the hottest region, flow of the vapor to the cooler regions which is achieved as a result of inherently lower thermodynamic pressure, and the return of the condensate through a myriad of channels or capillaries acting as wick or surface tension induced flow, ready use as a thermal couple between respective high & low temperature regions.
