  • Patent number: 7918006
Abstract: A method for making pipe joints on successive pipe sections introduced into an oil well as assembled into a pipeline in which the joints are substantially of the same dimensions as the pipe sections to allow for subsequent plastic expansion of the sections. In each joint, a female pipe end is tapered on the inside and an adjacent male end is tapered on the outside preferably with a complementary self locking taper which also has an interference fit. The female pipe end is heated to be expanded sufficiently to be assembled onto the male end and thereafter cooled to grip the male end in a leakproof manner. For larger pipe sizes, the tapered shapes have features which interlock in a leakproof manner when engaged after assembly of the pipe ends. The tapered shapes preferably are formed by a reversibly positioned forming tool which is alternately engaged with male and female pipe ends to ensure perfectly matching shapes.

  • Patent number: 7913854
Abstract: A filter apparatus includes a endless filter belt loop disposed in an interior space within a tank which receives liquid to be filtered. The filter belt has a series of closely spaced parallel guide-flight bars attached which are successively engaged by an extendible element on a pivot plate which is periodically oscillated to under the filter belt. The bars are received in guide spaces to hold the filter belt in position over a filter support having openings allowing filtering flow therethrough. Collapsible sealed hoses partially filled with liquid are used as edge seals extending along the guide spaces over side edges of the filter belt and are expanded by engagement of an upper end of each of the hoses with a squeeze member on the pivot plate. The squeeze members are moved off the hoses when the pivot plate is oscillated to advance the filter belt during indexing to release the sealing pressure and allow filter belt indexing movement.

  • Patent number: 7877918
Abstract: A firearm includes a magazine cavity in a handle defined by a frame. A stack of chamber tubes each holding a cartridge is loaded into the magazine cavity. A firing recess just to the rear of a bore defined in a firearm barrel receives the topmost chamber tube and cartridge and is urged against a partially circular contour defined within the recess by a feed spring which contour center is aligned with the bore. Each cartridge is fired while in its chamber tube by a firing mechanism and each chamber tube and fired cartridge are both ejected by gas pressure exerted on one side of the chamber tube through an ejection port defined by an opening in one side of the firing recess remote from the one side of the chamber tube. The ejection port allows a chamber tube positioned therein to be readily viewed or felt through the ejection port to make it possible to easily and reliably determine if the firearm is ready to be fired.
