Abstract: Apparatus for attaching a molded bicycle saddle cover to its companion base member. The attaching apparatus includes at least one prong member fixedly attached to the base member at a predetermined spaced distance inwardly of a downwardly extending flange which is integrally provided along the entire periphery of the base member. The prong structure cooperates with the flange in defining a narrow channel which snugly receives a folded flap portion that is integrally provided along the entire periphery of the cover, i.e., the folded flap portion contiguously engages the flange. The cover is formed from a substance wherein the flap portion is somewhat inherently resilient in nature while the thickness of the flap portion is sufficient so as to impart a degree of yieldable stiffness thereto, thus contributing significantly to the effectiveness of the attachment apparatus.

The knee prosthesis is particularly adapted for attachment to one of the condyles of the knee, and includes a curved elongated body portion, a post fixedly attached to the body portion, and a plurality of cement holding rings attached to the body portion.
Abstract: A patch-like web of material adapted to be placed over skin tumors for aiding a physician in making an optimum size and shape incision when surgically removing the tumor. The web of material is provided with an opening having a predetermined size which correlates with the size of the tumor. Also included are delineation provisions for providing a pattern which prescribes the optimum size and shape for the particular incision.
Abstract: An underground storage tank is filled with liquid (e.g., gasoline) until the level of the liquid in the tank rises into the fill-pipe leading from the surface of the ground to interior of the tank. A buoyant member is floated on the surface of the liquid in the fill-pipe. The height of the buoyant members and the temperature of the liquid within the tank are monitored over a period of time. Any fall of the buoyant member that is not proportional to any change of temperature of the liquid within the tank indicates a leak in the tank.
Abstract: Subject device includes a pair of companionate arcuate arms which (when locked) circumferentially embrace the wheel with one of the arms being movable to an open position to facilitate initial engagement with the wheel. A chassis-strikable lock-bar is fixedly attached to the arcuate arms for making forceable contact with the frame structure of the vehicle as a result of any movement thereof. Thus, the lockbar impedes any significant movement of the vehicle, i.e., whether it be inadvertent or unwarranted. A typical padlock locks the arms together in their closed position and an encasement closely envelopes the padlock shielding it against unwarranted abuse and destruction.
Abstract: A myringotomy tube device which obviates the inimical natural tendency of the healing incision to cause spontaneous extrusion of the device. The device is characterized by an inner flange member having a shape substantially resembling a top view of a canoe which establishes sharp tapered portions to individually facilitate initial engagement of the device with a lip portion of the tympanic membrane defining a surgical incision applied thereto. Included is a principal or tubular member which extends through the incision provided in the tympanic membrane for communicating the middle ear with the external auditory canal. The tubular member is conspicuously pinched in adjacent the middle of the length thereof to establish a minimal diameter portion upon which the lip portion of the incision is urged to ride, i.e., being urged thereon by the inwardly sloping annular surface.
Abstract: A gate valve having seal members adapted to allow fluid to flow between the upstream seat and the valve housing when the fluid is flowing or attempting to flow in a forward direction, or between the downstream seat and the valve housing when fluid is flowing or attempting to flow in a backward direction, to allow the pressure exerted by the fluid against the upstream and downstream seats and the gate to be substantially equalized while still preventing fluid from incorrectly flowing through the valve.
Abstract: A knife for use in skinning game animals such as deer. The knife includes a handle and a unitary, one-piece blade. The blade is constructed in such a manner so as to cause the skin of the animal being skinned to be fed into the cutting edge thereof without causing undue pressure to be applied to the cutting edge and to separate the skin as it is cut and to prevent any portion of the body of the person skinning the animal from coming in contact with the cutting edge.
Abstract: An apparatus for sorting wood chips or other particulate material into groups according to size. The apparatus includes a housing having an opened top, a first screen attached to the housing substantially covering the opened top thereof, a second screen attached to the housing beneath the first screen, and a hopper fixedly attached to the housing for holding a quantity of wood chips and for depositing wood chips onto substantially the center of the first screen. The first and second screens slope downwardly from the centers thereof so that any wood chips of a size too large to pass therethrough will pass, aided by the force of gravity, to the periphery thereof.
Abstract: A device for normally maintaining a predetermined, set spacing between two associated flaking rollers of a flaking mill and for allowing the two rollers to spread apart from one another if unflakable material of a size larger than the predetermined, set spacing between the two rollers is fed therebetween. A hydraulic piston having a manually adjustable stop is mounted between the two rollers so as to maintain a predetermined, set spacing between the two rollers. A gas piston is associated with the hydraulic piston to act as a shock absorber if any unflakable material of a size larger than the predetermined, set spacing between the two rollers is fed therebetween to allow the two rollers to spread apart. The gas piston is preloaded to a pressure substantially greater than the pressure normally required to flake the material being fed between the two rollers.
Abstract: A system of attaching floor decking to a railroad car of the type having an open floor structure of flanged beam members. A plurality of plank members are positioned upon the flanged beam members. Each plank member is provided with a longitudinal groove along each longitudinal edge thereof. A plurality of fastening members attach the plank members to the beam members. Each fastening member includes a platelike body portion having a slot therein for grippingly engaging a flange of one of the beam members and includes first and second tongue portions fixedly attached to and extending from opposite sides of the body portion thereof for extending into the longitudinal grooves of two adjacent plant members thereby attaching the two adjacent plank members to the beam member which the fastening member grippingly engages.
Abstract: A plurality of lights are mounted on the face of a board-like member. An electrical conductive contact member is mounted on the face of the board-like member adjacent each of the plurality of lights. Each contact member is electrically coupled to the light it is adjacent to through an electric circuit which causes the light to light up when a positive electrical pulse is received by the contact member. A positive electric probe or stylus member is provided for allowing positive electrical pulses to be applied to selective ones of contact members to light up selective ones of the plurality of lights.

Abstract: Electric motors are connected to the front wheels of a vehicle to commence the propulsion of the vehicle. Fluid pressure motors are connected to the rear wheels of the vehicle to propel the vehicle once the electric motors have commenced the propulsion thereof. An electric pump supplies expansible fluid to the fluid pressure motors. Electric heaters expand the fluid in the fluid pressure motors to cause the fluid pressure motors to rotate the rear wheels of the vehicle thereby propelling the vehicle. The electric motors are adapted to act as generators after the fluid pressure motors have commenced the propulsion of the vehicle to recharge a battery that operates the electric motors, the electric pump and the electric heaters.

Abstract: A device for use in contests in which two contestants attempt to force one another's forearm from a substantially vertical position to a substantially horizontal position. The device includes a base for resting upon a supporting surface. The contestants sit on opposite sides of the base, facing one another. A first arm is pivotally mounted to the base in a manner so that one of the contestants can grip the distal end thereof with his elbow resting upon the base and with his forearm in a substantially vertical position. A second arm is pivotally mounted to the base in a manner so that the other contestant can grip the distal end thereof with his elbow resting upon the base and with his forearm in a substantially vertical position. The first and second arms are fixedly attached together so that when one of the arms is moved downward, the other arm is forced downward.
