  • Patent number: 4126164
Abstract: A device for placement on the rim of a drinking glass to allow different fluids to be poured into the glass in such a manner that varied layered drinks can be easily and quickly made. The device includes a cup member for placement on the rim of the glass in such a manner that a substantially airtight seal is formed between the glass and the bottom of the cup member. A plurality of fluid passageways are formed in the bottom of the device to allow fluid to pass from within the cup member to the interior of the glass. The fluid passageways are angled downward and outward so as to direct the fluid passing therethrough substantially against the inner walls of the glass so that the fluid will run down the inner walls of the glass rather than merely falling or dripping onto the surface of any fluid already in the glass. In this manner, the incoming fluid will not break the surface tension of the fluid already present in the glass but, rather, will float on this fluid to create a varied layered drink.

  • Patent number: 4104156
Abstract: Coupling apparatus for facilitating disengaging sling-like elongated flexible members from the load of lumber pieces being cradled therein. The apparatus includes a pair of hooks which are selectively driven between normal and couple/uncouple positions. A pair of sling-eyes are attached to one of the respective ends of the elongated flexible members and the sling-eyes are adapted for respective cooperative engagement and disengagement with the pair of hooks. Each flexible member passes through a sling-guide which operatively engages the sling-eye or presents it to the hook for recoupling as the flexible member is almost completely taken up by a winch. Subsequently, the hooks are moved to the normal position and the flexible members are sufficiently slackened for reloading.

  • Patent number: 4102510
Abstract: A device for holding a roll of toilet tissue or the like and for being fixedly attached to a wall or the like in such a manner that unauthorized removal of the device from the wall is effectively prevented. The device includes a base for being attached to the wall by one or more screws or the like and includes a pair of arm members and a bar member for being fixedly and lockably attached to one another and to the base in such a manner that the arm members completely cover the heads of the screws to thereby prevent access to the heads of the screws when the bar member and arm members are locked in place thereby preventing unauthorized removal of the device from the wall. The bar member extends completely through the roll of toilet tissue so that when the bar member and the arm members are locked in place, the roll of toilet tissue cannot be removed from the device.

  • Patent number: 4095591
Abstract: An extension is provided for being nonrotatably fixed to a lag screw that is to be anchored to the head of a femur or other bone in a manner so as to allow compression to be applied to a fracture. The extension extends outward of the bone when attached to the lag screw and when the lag screw is anchored to the bone to allow a compression plate to be easily positioned thereon. The cross-section of the extension is substantially the same as the cross-section of the lag screw to allow the compression plate to be easily and quickly passed onto the lag screw from the extension once the compression plate has been positioned on the extension.

  • Patent number: 4064796
Abstract: Apparatus for cooking various food items. The apparatus includes an enclosed cooking compartment disposed a spaced distance above a reservoir which contains a quantity of cooking oil. A rack is provided for suspending the items of food at spaced apart distances one from the other within the cooking compartment. The oil is heated and forced through nozzles which are uniformly spaced about the interior of the cooking compartment thus forming a mist from the hot cooking oil which saturates the interior space of the cooking commpartment. Thus, the suspended items of food become suffused with the mist of hot oil which effectively accomplishes the cooking process of the food.
