  • Patent number: 4622019
Abstract: A playset for use in and out of water includes a seahorse figurine with long rooted mane hair and a coral corral. The seahorse figurine has a relatively watertight upper body and a rotatably connected lower tail portion. A weight is positioned in the tail so that rotation of the tail orients the angular position of the figurine when it is floating in water. Vents are provided in the tail for displacement of air. The coral corral floates in the water with a substantial portion, including provisions for accessories for the care of the figurine, above the water level. Alternatively, the corral may be placed on a table or other flat surface when it also provides support for the seahorse figurine.

  • Patent number: 4611812
Abstract: A portable, elevated, ball receiving game apparatus including an open topped, closed bottom lightweight plastic basket supported upon a single, central, elongated stem. The end of the stem opposite the basket is securable in a base having radially extending feet sufficient to support the apparatus upon a generally planar surface. Pegs are provided to further secure the base into a relatively soft ground surface. The stem is made of a tubular plastic material of a diameter of approximately one inch so as to permit a player to grasp the stem at a point intermediate the basket and the base and by exerting a force in a plane generally transverse to the generally vertically oriented axis of the stem effect sufficient, repeated, displacement of the basket from its initial orientation to cause the ball to be ejected out of the basket. To enhance portability and storage as well as to provide for varying heights of the elevated basket, the stem is preferably made of connectable sections.

  • Patent number: 4597744
Abstract: A battery motor driven toy has articulated front and rear sections that are extended and contracted about a horizontal pivot in a scissor-like action. Each of the sections carries a surface engaging wheel mounted for rotation only in the forward direction. A biasing force pulls the sections together while the motor drives the sections apart against the biasing force through a gear train that includes gear segments on each section. When the front section is driven, the rear section remains stationary but is pulled forward by the biasing force at the end of the drive cycle while the front remains stationary. Placement of the motor and other weight over the rear wheels results in the vehicle doing a "wheelie" when forward movement of the rear wheels is obstructed so that the front section rises up above the play surface while continuing to extend and retract in a snapping-like action. A counterweighted sound device is mounted under the rear section so that it is activated when the vehicle does a "wheelie".

  • Patent number: 4595099
Abstract: An ice cream sandwich preparation and storage container set with open top shells having partial bottom walls defining a central aperture. Substantially conforming with the bottom of the shell is an insert disk that effectively seals the aperture while forming a base for the ice cream and cookie sandwich. The bottom periphery of the shell is formed with a flange that fits over the upper rim of another similar container so that the bottom of one container may act as the sealing cover for an underlying container. When it is desired to consume one of the previously prepared and stored sandwiches it may be easily extracted from the container by, after removing the cover, pushing up on the insert disk through the aperture with a thumb or forefinger.

  • Patent number: 4595379
Abstract: A toy doll with arms and legs mounted for pivotal movement relative to the torso in response to rotational movement of a bottle nipple in the doll's mouth. One gear on a rotatable feed tube within the hollow head of the doll engages vertically oriented racks that then engage spur gears to rotate the arms. A bevel gear also carried by the tube engages a bevel gear on a depending drive shaft that has a crown gear driving a bevel gear for each of the legs. Both the arms and the legs are mounted on spools that freely rotate with respect to the torso. Frictional engagement of the limbs with respect to the spool permit the spool to pivotally drive the arms while also allowing selective, independent angular orientation of each of the limbs with respect to its respective spool.

  • Patent number: 4594071
Abstract: A composite toy robot that may be assembled from five individual lion-like vehicles. Each of the vehicles has a hollow body with an openable portion for receiving a toy figure within the body and a pivotal head. Four legs are attached to the body for pivotal movement from an extended position in which the body is supportable on a surface to a retracted position. In addition, each body has an elongated tail mounted for pivotal movement relative to the body. One of the lion-like vehicles forms the torso of the composite toy robot and the limbs of this vehicle are substantially within a respective hip or shoulder joint in the retracted position. The tail of each of the arm and leg forming vehicles has a notch adjacent the end that is received in the hip or shoulder joint of the torso vehicle so that pivotal movement of the respective leg of the torso vehicle into the retracted position retains the tail.

  • Patent number: 4582500
Abstract: A play service center for toy self-propelled reversible drive vehicles that includes a lift ramp powered by the vehicle. Rollers carried by the lift ramp transfer power from the driven vehicle wheels through a pinion gear that engages a stationary curved rack gear to raise and lower the lift and vehicle. At the top of the curved rack gear a number of teeth are omitted and a stop is provided to retain the lift in the raised position. In order to lower the lift, the vehicle drive is reversed. Levered pads provide additional traction for driving the vehicle off the rollers and lift ramp. A power take-off drives service equipment such as a power meter as well as a rotating buffer or drill. The meter includes a biased dial pointer that provides an indication of the power transmitted by the vehicle wheels through the driven rollers.

  • Patent number: 4576585
Abstract: A toy figure with a head having a substantially rigid outer surface of a first appearance is covered by a relatively flexible outer mask having a second appearance which is self-supporting in normal atmospheric pressure. The mask is secured in substantially airtight relationship covering, but spaced from, the outer surface of the head. Reduction of the pressure in the space between the outer surface of the head and the mask by a pump collapses the mask and conforms its appearance to the first appearance of the outer surface of the underlying head. Both the interior of the mask and the outer surface of the head are provided with approximately the same surface area. Upper and lower portions of the torso of the figure are slidingly separable to operate a piston pump to reduce the pressure in the space between the head and the mask.

  • Patent number: 4571197
Abstract: An impact responsive toy vehicle in which two separable halves each carrying surface engaging wheels are connected together to provide a vehicle supported on the surface engaging wheels. A torsion spring biases the joinable ends of the two halves to separate and each flip over. The parts are retained together by a connecting latch that is disengageable by a slidable lever that moves in reponse to a force on an extending front bumper. One half carries a rotatable lock including a lug that cooperates with an abutment on the lever to lock the trigger lever against sliding movement in response to impact on the bumper. Fail-safe combination of the two parts rendering the impact responsive feature totally inoperative is accomplished by assembling the parts together with the arm of the torsion spring received in a recess on the underside of the chassis of the other half.
