  • Patent number: 4424611
Abstract: A buckle for watch bands comprising three folding members. The members are a clasping member connected to an end of one of the watch bands, a middle plate rotatably connected to the clasping member at one end thereof, and a bottom plate rotatably connected to the other end of the middle plate and connected to one end of the other band. The clasping member and the bottom plate are engaged with each other by an engaging means. A lock member is rotatably supported on the clasping member. A primary hook portion is provided on the lock member, and a secondary hook portion is provided on the bottom plate. The primary hook portion is adapted so as to engage with the secondary hook portion by rotating the lock member when the buckle is in folded state.

  • Patent number: 4368884
Abstract: A safety bench pressing apparatus is disclosed which prevents injury from the droppage of barbells. The apparatus includes a three sided frame which functions to catch barbells that are dropped during bench pressing by a person reclining on a standard bench pressing bench. The three sides of the frame include a horizontal member and first and second vertical sections which are respectively joined to the ends of the horizontal member. Each vertical section contains a horizontal support which is vertically positioned above the bench. The horizontal supports catch any barbells which are dropped above the head, neck and chest cavity of a person reclining on the bench during bench pressing. The horizontal members are adjustable in height.

  • Patent number: 4244351
Abstract: The concentration of the solute in solution in a saturated non-convecting solar pond is greatest at a lower hotter level decreases continuously toward a higher cooler level and is saturated at all levels, thus preventing solute diffusion. In the customary operation of such saturated non-convecting solar ponds, the heat generated by incident radiation is absorbed in a bottom or lower layer. Because of the continuously decreasing density of solute which is near saturation from the lower to the upper layers, there is little salt convection and the pool tends to be further stabilized. Further, by heating due to absorption of the radiation largely at the lower level, a temperature gradient is maintained in which the upper layers remain cool, evaporation and consequent loss of heat is inhibited and the efficiency of the solar pond is improved. It has been discovered that a brine consisting essentially of an appropriate mixture of sodium carbonate (Na.sub.2 CO.sub.3) and sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO.sub.

  • Patent number: 4196614
Abstract: A process and associated meter devices which will provide accurate and rapid measurement of the quantitites of cement and water in a sample of fresh concrete. A special volumetric flask is filled with a sample of fresh concrete to a known volume. The volumetric flask and its contents are then attached to the hollow body of a shaker meter which forms an extension of the upper part of the volumetric flask. A predetermined volume of special mixing liquid with precisely known density different than water is then added and thoroughly mixed with the concrete sample by shaking. A portion of the resulting cement-water-mixing liquid suspension, or liquor, is then poured off and strained into a vial where its relative density, which is a function of the amount of each constituent present, is determined by a special hydrometer. Another portion of the resulting suspension, or liquor, is filtered through a suitable paper, or other material, so that all cement is removed.
