  • Patent number: 6818286
Abstract: The invention relates to a panel (1) for a floor covering with a layer (2) consisting of a thermoplastic material, which is applied between the underside of the panel (1) and a further layer (3). The further layer consists in particular of a very thin, strong paper impregnated with acrylate. The invention achieves particularly good footfall noise-absorption.

  • Patent number: 6789724
Abstract: An exothermic welding system uses compressible layers of disposable refractory batting or gaskets to form a weld chamber for parts to be welded. The parts to be welded are layered with the batting between a base and a crucible platen supported by a clamping fixture. The layered batting is provided with the holes intersecting the parts to be welded. The holes form the weld chamber. The crucible platen is provided with a chamber for the exothermic material which when ignited forms molten metal which flows through a tap hole into the weld chamber. When the weld is made, the fixture is opened and the batting is discarded. The invention is also the method of forming the welded connection by compressing the layered batting and the parts to be welded to form the disposable weld chamber enabling a simpler and lower cost welding system to make a wide variety of connections not requiring a large inventory of special and costly refractory mold parts.

  • Patent number: 6672545
Abstract: A device for resisting movement of a pipe suspended by a pipe hanger includes a base and a pair of arms extending from the base. A recess is formed in each of the arms for receiving a portion of a pipe hanger. A projection extends from each arm. The device fits between a suspended pipe and the hanger. Contact between the arms and projections of the device on the one hand and a portion of the pipe hanger on the other hand resists movement of the pipe. Contact between the arms and a portion of the pipe hanger resists movement of the device with respect to the pipe hanger.

  • Patent number: 5789456
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for producing non-CFC resol foams of low density using perfluorinated ethers along with a HCFC or CFC blowing agent, and to foams produced by such a process. The process generally comprises: (a) forming a mixture by combining a resol resin with a blowing-agent blend comprising (i) at least one blowing agent selected from the group consisting of hydrogenated chlorofluorocarbons and hydrogenated fluorocarbons and (ii) at least one perfluoroether additive selected from the group consisting of perfluorinated ethers; (b) adding an acid catalyst to the mixture to initiate foaming and form a foam; and (c) curing the foam to form a cured foam that is essentially free of CFCs.

  • Patent number: 5783122
Abstract: An extruder projects through a bulkhead adapted to form part of a vacuum chamber, and a die is mounted on the end of the extruder within the bulkhead. The extruder projects through a gland seal which is formed in a sleeve surrounding the extruder. The seal includes a plurality of seal rings surrounding the extruder and packed in the sleeve and held in place in a preferred from by a yieldable retainer. A shaper is positioned downstream of the die and is clamped to the upstream end of the die. The shaper is mounted on tracks on a girder extending from the bulkhead clear of its periphery. The apparatus permits congruent axial movement of the extruder, die and shaper with respect to the bulkhead.
