  • Patent number: 4465088
Abstract: A low liquid level sensor in a hot water heating system permitting testing operability thereof in situ without draining down the system. The sensor is located in a cavity that has an opening in the bottom thereof in fluid communication with the liquid in the vessel during normal operation of the system. The end of the opening is at a lower elevation than the sensor and liquid from the vessel is in the cavity during normal operation of the system. When the liquid drops to a predetermined low level the sensor activates the safety cut-off. Valved passed means are provided exteriorly of the vessel so that a gas can be injected into the cavity to pressurize the same and drive the liquid in the cavity through the opening into the vessel simulating a low water level condition. At the simulated low water level condition operability of the sensor can be determined. Means are provided to release the gas from the cavity.

  • Patent number: 4372259
Abstract: Improvements in a fuel injected, internal combustion engine having a first passage for flow of air into the combustion chamber and exit of exhaust gases from the combustion chamber and a single poppet valve opened and closed in timed relation to rotation of the engine's crank shaft to control flow of gases through such first passage wherein the improvement comprises an inlet air passage and an exhaust gas passage each communicating with the first passage and one another and a diverter valve moveable in timed relation to operation of the poppet valve selectively to direct, in one position, air into the combustion chamber through the inlet passage and, in another position, exit of exhaust gases through the outlet passage and another position therebetween where air flowing in the inlet passage flows directly to the outlet passage following the exhaust portion of the cycle to assist in driving out the exhaust gases.

  • Patent number: 4061166
Abstract: A mobile tree delimber having a flail type delimber movably mounted thereon and controllably raised and lowered by sensing means automatically to maintain a selected relative position between the flail delimber unit and the tree or group of trees being processed thereby maximizing impact forces of the flail members on the limbs being removed. A further delimber consists of a mobile vehicle having two or more flail type delimber units individually movably mounted thereon in side-by-side relation and each supported for movement in a vertical plane and means for raising and lowering the respective flail delimber units independent of one another.

  • Patent number: 4059158
Abstract: The present invention relates to rock and root pickers. The picker disclosed in this application consists of a mobile vehicle with a fork table mounted thereon for movement between a picking position wherein it skims rocks from a surface over which the vehicle is moving and a dumping position wherein the fork table is positioned upwardly from the surface. A rotary reel is also mounted on the vehicle forwardly of the fork table to engage small rocks and roll them rearwardly onto the fork table. A dump bucket is mounted on the vehicle rearwardly of the fork table and receives rocks from the fork table when it is raised. In a preferred embodiment the vehicle is a self propelled swather and the rock picker is an attachment that is mounted on the vehicle in place of the header thereof.

  • Patent number: 4022410
Abstract: A mobile vehicle is disclosed having a boom pivotally mounted thereon for slewing about a vertical axis and a work head attached to the free end of the boom by a universal mounting. The universal mounting consists of a first housing having a base attached to the boom and a power driven worm in drive relation with a worm gear in the housing. The worm gear has a central hub to which is connected a second housing and which in turn has a driven worm in drive relation with a worm gear mounted therein. The worm gear in the second housing has a central hub and to which is attached a support carrying the work head.
