Abstract: A firefighter's rope bag and rapid deployment system having a fire retardant rope containment pouch with a closed top end and a bottom end with a pouch opening, closure means for selectively opening and closing said pouch opening, a load-bearing member enclosed by the rope containment pouch and having a top end and a bottom end, each with rope connection means, and a protective bonnet for selectively covering said pouch opening. The rope bag may be fastened to a trucker's belt and allows firefighters to rapidly deploy fire resistant rope for use in navigating and evacuating smoke-filled structures.
Abstract: A kite safety device for a kite having an airfoil with leading and trailing edges, at least two control lines attached to the airfoil and a control flying bar attached to at least two of the control lines. The device features a trim line having a hollow central passageway, sized and shaped to fit slidably through a central opening in the control flying bar. A safety flying line is attached at its first end to a first point adjacent a midpoint along a centerline extending from the leading edge to the trailing edge and attached through said passageway at its second end to a fixture providing a point for attachment of the flying line to a harness. When the control flying bar is released a user may rotate beneath the kite and when the safety flying line is tensioned, the kite will begin to stall and the kite will descend.
Abstract: An HVAC duct boot seal is disclosed which may be installed on vent openings during construction and prior to protect the ventilation system from contamination by construction debris entering the vent openings and to improve the vent seal after construction is complete. The boot seal includes a selectively removable cover portion, at least one side wall disposed at a substantially right angle to the cover portion and defining a recess for engagement with the edge of a duct boot opening, and a flange disposed outwardly from the exterior surface of the side wall. Also disclosed is a method of using the inventive duct boot seal.
