  • Patent number: 4214328
Abstract: A restraining device completely encircles a person's torso beneath his underarms and then is firmly anchored to the mattress or bedframe. The restraining device is made from a top and bottom sheet releaseably fastened together along mating ends which when fastened form an opening for encircling a person's torso. The head end of the top sheet is arranged with a pocket or other means of attachment of a panel of semi-rigid material to prevent a person from effectively grasping anything beneath the top sheet. The top sheet is suspended over the bed surface by elastic straps extending over and fastened to the side rails of the bed.

  • Patent number: 4209949
Abstract: A method and apparatus is disclosed for high precision lapping. This high precision is accomplished by the lapping stroke between the lap and the workpiece always having a substantially constant predetermined stroke in one direction and an approximately constant predetermined stroke in the other direction. The approximately constant stroke is accomplished by sensing the contact force between the lap and the workpiece and stopping an engaging stroke therebetween when a predetermined contact force is reached and then starting a constant disengaging stroke. When the substantially constant predetermined disengaging stroke is completed, the engaging stroke begins.

  • Patent number: 4119277
Abstract: An improved apparatus for cutting scrap tires is disclosed wherein compressed scrap tires are cut. A scrap tire is compressed, then fed into a plurality of rotary disc cutters axially spaced along a shaft and rotated against a stationary anvil. In the preferred embodiment, cutting tools are vertically mounted on the rotary disc cutters, whose outer circumference is recessed in a concave arc starting at the top of the cutting tool and ending at that portion of the cutting tool closest to the center. The cutting tools are off-set along successive rotary disc cutters rather than placed in a line parallel to the shaft. Anvil tools having at least one cutting edge are mounted on the stationary anvil for ease in maintaining cutting edges opposite the rotating cutting tools. Cleaner bars facilitate the removal of cut scrap tires from the rotary disc cutters and their subsequent collection.

  • Patent number: 3955283
Abstract: This invention discloses a flexible handpiece mounted control for dental drills. Two embodiments are disclosed whereby the control can be mounted externally on a standard handpiece or part of a specially designed handpiece. Both embodiments provide a tube that is designed to permit the uninterrupted flow of fluid. When an external load (finger pressure) is applied to the tube, an obstruction to the fluid flow occurs. This obstruction to the fluid flow is a back pressure that may be monitored and used to control dental drill speed and/or water flow to the drill.
