Abstract: On a jackscrew used to adjust spring tension on the suspension of some vehicles, a bearing is provided to allow one or both spring cups (and hence one or both ends of the spring) to rotate freely relative to each other about the axis of the spring. This relieves undesirable forces between the vehicle body and its undercarriage.

Abstract: Disclosed are processes for sterilization of cyanoacrylate adhesive compositions, the compositions, comprising 2-cyanoacrylate ester monomers, so produced and a method for assaying the effectiveness of the sterilization process. The process comprises heating the adhesive composition to from about 70° C. to about 140° C. for an effective amount of time. The effectiveness of the process can be assayed by disposing bacterial spores in the cyanoacrylate monomer, exposing the composition to a dry heat sterilization process, transferring the cyanoacrylate composition to a sterile aldose solution, transferring and exposing the sample to a nutrient medium which supports germination and growth of viable spores, incubating the samples, and determining the presence or absence of growth.

Abstract: A door lock is openable by a key from outside and by a combination mechanism from the inside. The interior combination mechanism may alternatively be supplemented by a key mechanism. The combination is entered by positioning the hands of a simulated clock, an array of push buttons, an array of sliding rods, or a rotating dial. A method is also provided for changing the combination.

Abstract: A reciprocating liquid or gas pump is driven by bi-directional force. A prime mover causes eccentric weights to rotate, which in turn cause pistons to be driven in linear paths under bi-directional force. This bi-directional force then drives opposing sets of pistons to pump a fluid. The pressurized fluid can then be used for, e.g., driving a hydraulic motor.

Abstract: A finger strengthening device is a simulated handgun fitted with an adjustable spring-loaded trigger mechanism. The handgun simulation is selected to match the model of gun to be used, and the exertion required to pull the trigger is initially set at the maximum resistance the shooter can achieve with a steady pull and aim. A method or regimen for proper strengthening is included.

Abstract: A tube dispenser for adhesive compositions and adhesive components is equipped with a sponge applicator device. The tube includes an upper neck body which is cylindrical with exterior threads so that the sponge applicator device may be attached. The sponge applicator device has a rigid cap portion with interior threads, a cylindrical top end having a longitudinal channel, an absorbent, porous applicator material covering the external opening of the longitudinal channel, and a lance centered within the threaded cap and coaxial with the longitudinal channel. The porous applicator material may be affixed to the external opening of the top end with an adhesive, or held in place by a snap ring.

Abstract: A flexible tubular frame, comprising an upper section and a lower section, supports a person's neck and head for hygienic, therapeutic, or cosmetic purposes. The upper section has a depressed portion shaped for supporting a person's neck when the person lies within the open ends of the base frame and the upper frame.

Abstract: A portable storage apparatus for biologicals has plural temperature-controlled compartments, each compartment having specially arranged shelves and sample trays or carousel bins. The device also has door-ajar annunciators and a built-in self-contained rechargeable power supply. Portability is enhanced by an optional free-standing roller base.

Abstract: A drogue attachment consisting of two symmetrical shaped arms is affixed to one end of a shaft, that end of the shaft being attached to a fishing line. The other end of the shaft is tied to a leader, which is in turn tied to a baited or lure-equipped fish hook device. When the fish hook device is pulled through the water by a fish, water opens the shaped arms; when pulled in the other direction by the angler, the arms fold in against the shaft.

Abstract: An apparatus for enhanced drying of bulk agricultural products is provided in a transport trailer. The apparatus includes a perforated false bottom below the product, an air manifold buried within the product, and baffles for air distribution. Product unloading capabilities are enhanced as well. These capabilities enhance the uniformity and reproducibility of drying, ease of product handling, and greater safety in unloading the product.

Abstract: A popping float fishing rig has a float and beads mounted slidably on a rigid wire, in combination with a substantial weight. The weight may either be fixed at the lower end of the wire, or slidably mounted on the wire below the float. Such an arrangement provides truer casting, less tangling, and better fish attractant properties as compared to the prior art.

Abstract: A retractable felt tip pen has a seal system that prevents air from drying out the felt between uses. The seal system can be actuated with one hand, and comprises two sealing devices that may be used in series in the pen or may be used alone. The first sealing device is a flexible self-sealing membrane, and the second is a specially-shaped and hinged cap. The membrane is actuated by extension and retraction of the felt itself. The cap may be actuated either by extension of the felt alone or by the push of a finger on the cap. Replacement of the cap is effected by snapping the cap over the end of the pen, again with one finger.
