Abstract: A clip comprises a grommet and a pin, and the grommet has a flange and leg pieces. The flange has a pair of right and left flange bodies, bridges for joining the flange bodies, and an opening portion formed at the center portion thereof. Peripheral walls of the opening portion are formed by the respective end faces of the flange bodies and the bridges, and the right and left peripheral walls formed by the end faces of the flange bodies and the front and rear peripheral walls formed by the end faces of the bridges are offset in a thickness direction, thereby establishing a positional relationship in which the right and left peripheral walls and the front and rear peripheral walls do not intersect to each other.

Abstract: A steering device, in particular an electric power-steering device for a motor vehicle, comprising an axially parallel drive which has a steering gearbox housing, a steering axle, a steering element, and at least one axle steering mechanism connected to the steering element, having a motor unit disposed on the steering gearbox housing, having a servo gearbox disposed in a gearbox cover and having a control unit for the motor unit, which is disposed in a control device housing. The control device housing of the control unit is disposed on one axially parallel side of the servo gearbox, and a motor housing of the motor unit is disposed on the other axially parallel side of the servo gearbox.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for measuring the similarity of two-dimensional images, at least one image exhibiting an additional signal, the location dependence or symmetry properties of which are known at least approximately. The images are partitioned into mutually identical subimages such that the extension of at least one subimage in the direction of the gradient of the additional signal is smaller than the extension of this subimage in the direction perpendicular thereto. The subimages are compared separately, and the results of all comparisons are combined to form the measurement result for similarity. As a result, the method becomes insensitive to variations in the additional signal. The method is particularly suited for the determination of defocusing and astigmatism of an electron-microscopic image. For this purpose, it is important to compare the similarity of an experimentally measured image to simulated images, which were generated using defined defocusing and astigmatism values.

Abstract: Shorts having a constitution where the exposed skin area can be freely determined while a wearer wears the shorts without unnecessary physical or psychological burden is disposed. By connecting an approximately inverted triangular front cover and an approximately inverted triangular back cover at their tops of individual approximately inverted triangular shape, when the wearer wears the shorts, a lower abdomen, a crotch and buttocks of the wearer's body can be covered as one unit by the front and back covers. Further, by inserting a ring-shaped string into a string through passage made at upper hems of the front and back covers in a freely slidable manner, both ends of the upper hems of the front and back covers can be slid towards the center along the string and a state of the front and back covers is changeable to a narrow-width state to cover the lower abdomen, the crotch and the buttocks of the body.

Abstract: Provided is a way of using an estimator to determine a force (Fz), which acts from the outside on a steering gear of a steering device in a vehicle by way of a steering linkage, wherein a motor for generating a steering torque is assigned to the steering device. This is achieved by estimating the force (Fz) acting from the outside as a function of an effective motor torque (tor_RAeff), wherein the effective motor torque (tor_RAeff) is determined as a function of a motor torque and an efficiency, the efficiency being determined as a function of the estimated force (Fz).

Abstract: A sugar derivative derived from Aphanothece sacrum as a freshwater blue-green alga, having a mean molecular weight of 2,000,000 or more and a repeat structure of a sugar chain unit where a sugar constituent of a hexose structure and a sugar constituent of a pentose structure are conjugated together in a linear chain or a branched chain, containing a lactated, sulfated sugar as a constituent, where 2.7 or more hydroxyl groups per 100 hydroxyl groups are sulfated or sulfur element occupies 1.5% by weight or more of all of the elements, in the sugar chain unit. A sugar derivative with a novel polysaccharide structure as derived from Aphanothece sacrum is provided in such manner.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for examining a sample using a scanning tunneling microscope, wherein before or during image recording, a contrast agent is applied to at least one location on the tip of the scanning tunneling microscope and/or on the sample, which is part of the tunneling contact during the image recording, while a temperature less than or equal to the condensation temperature of the contrast agent is set at this location. A corresponding scanning tunneling microscope is disclosed.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a light guiding keypad and a light guiding keypad assembly. More particularly, the present invention relates to a light guiding keypad and light guiding keypad assembly which can reduce the number of components of mobile phones by forming line type or surface type of key character patterns on one surface of a light guiding plate of a mobile phone that receives lights through its side surface and thus making the light guiding plate perform as keypad. The key character patterns are formed by printing paste having diffusion and reflection features.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for improving efficacy of surfactants, prevention of lamellar mesophases, temperature stabilization of the single phase region and a method for reducing boundary surface tension in micro-emulsions containing silicone oils by means of additives and a surfactant/oil mixture. The above effects are achieved, whereby an additive of a block copolymer with a water-soluble block A and a block B which is either a polyalkylene oxide with at least 4 C atoms in the monomer component or a polydiene or a partially or completely hydrogenated polydiene or polyalkane, is added to the micro-emulsion.

Abstract: A duplexer formed on a piezoelectric substrate includes a low band side filter and a high band side filter, and has an improved isolation characteristic in a pass frequency band of the high band side filter. Transmission and reception of signals are respectively performed from either of the low band side filter and the high band side filter and the other filter with respect to an input/output port. Series arms and parallel arms each formed of an elastic wave resonator form the low band side filter. A shield electrode is disposed close to either of the input/output port and a low band side filter port, and is grounded for capacitive coupling with same.

Abstract: Disclosed is a stirring tool which is capable of fully and efficiently mixing ingredients such as mayonnaise even in relatively small amounts. A stirring blade is mounted on a rotating shaft which is rotated by a driving force. A hollow blade cover is provided which covers the periphery of the rotating stirring blade and a portion of the edge of the stirring blade constitutes a long edge which is an edge part that faces the inner circumferential face and which extends along the inner circumferential face of the blade cover. Openings which are holes and an opening are provided at the end of the blade cover and in a peripheral wall of the blade cover for circulation of the stirred ingredients. The long edge can be seen through the holes in the peripheral wall when the rotating blade rotates.

Abstract: A head suspension has a base plate including a flange. The flange has a first face attached to the carriage arm and a second face attached to an auxiliary member. A first-face contact is circumferentially formed along an outer circumferential edge of the first face of the flange, so that the first-face contact among parts of the base plate except the boss is most proximal to the carriage arm. A second-face contact is circumferentially formed along an outer circumferential edge of the second face of the flange, so that the second-face contact among parts of the base plate including the boss is most proximal to the auxiliary member. This configuration allows the auxiliary member to be correctly aligned with and attached to the second face of the flange.

Abstract: In an image card where an image is formed on a thin plate made of special synthetic paper or plastic by engraving by sweeping the plate with the engraving needle through relative movement of an engraving needle and a plate, it is impossible to form a hidden image which can be viewed when a viewpoint is changed or form an image formed by watermark engraving and the hidden image within the same plane. A hidden image is formed on an image card by engraving while angles of stripes of striped patterns are changed in response to shading of an image. Further, an image engraving device is provided with a rotary driving unit, and engraving is performed in a state that an extending direction of striped grooves of the hidden image and a forming direction of the engraving are made equal, so that a wall face of a groove is always formed by the same side face of an engraving needle and undulation does not occur on the wall face of the groove. Similarly, a shape of a bottom face of the groove is made even.

Abstract: Stretchable artificial leather comprising a fibrous substrate comprising tricot knitted fabric, and a polyurethane resin layer laminated on the surface of the fibrous substrate, the stretchable artificial leather having fixed load elongation of from 30 to 60% in each of a longitudinal direction, a lateral direction and a bias direction.

Abstract: The piezoelectric actuator of a head suspension has an actuator base and at least a piezoelectric element, the actuator base connected to the base part of the load beam of the suspension and having at least an opening, the piezoelectric element attached to the opening and deforming in response to a voltage applied thereto to effect displacement of the front end of the load beam. A nonconductive filler is fitted into a circumferential channel defined between a circumferential edge of an opening in the actuator base and a circumferential side face of the piezoelectric element facing the circumferential edge of the opening to maintain a width of the circumferential channel. A nonconductive adhesive part is formed in the circumferential channel and joins the circumferential edge of the opening and the circumferential side face of the piezoelectric element together.

Abstract: So as to provide, with high accuracy, an actuating variable for actuating a torque control element in an electric vehicle steering system and achieve this with reduced complexity as compared to the known methods and devices, an actual torsion-bar torque (MD) is detected, a differential torque is found from a predefined target torsion-bar torque (MD,ref) and the actual torsion-bar torque (MD), and the actuating variable is determined by means of an output feedback controller, as a function of the differential torque.

Abstract: An upstanding cylinder and a loading lid are produced respectively from glass. On the upper face of the bottom plate of the cylinder, a substance-pooling concave in which wine lees and tartar are pooled is formed. Owing to this constitution, there is little risk that the external air enters through a gap between the sliding faces of these members into the wine-pooling section in the cylinder and causes the oxidation of the wine. Since the cylinder comprises glass, the wine can be stored under almost the same conditions as in bottles. Further, sanitary precautions can be easily taken. Furthermore, problems such as the sticking of the cylinder to the loading lid due to stainless steel rust and so on can be overcome.
