  • Patent number: 8179130
Abstract: A magnetic revolution counter for the unambiguous determination of a definable number of revolutions of a rotating element to be determined. The aim of creating such a revolution counter allowing a determination of any arbitrarily definable number of revolutions, for example up to values of N>4000 or more as defined, and enabling a cost-effective and small design, is achieved in that a plurality of sensor elements (30a to 30e) are provided, which are formed by closed loops having magnetic domains attached and guiding the same, containing at least one ferromagnetic, respectively soft magnetic, layer.

  • Patent number: 8173571
Abstract: Large quantities of explosive hydrogen-oxygen mixtures can be produced by leaks or accidents in technical plants, e.g. nuclear reactors. The invention relates to a catalyst, a catalyst system, an arrangement for recombining hydrogen with oxygen, and a method for producing a catalyst. The inventive catalyst is characterized in that the ignition point of the mixture is exceeded under no circumstances even though the catalyst works in a strictly passive manner without outside intervention and the recombination is an exothermal reaction. The basic idea is to design the catalyst such that the catalyst autonomously limits the activity thereof in accordance with the prevailing temperature.

  • Patent number: 8164032
Abstract: A cooktop has a plurality of reflection-sensitive infrared sensors. A plurality of IR receiving elements is arranged along an operating line having a density such that an operator's finger placed on the operating line necessarily covers at least one of the IR receiving elements. A smaller number of IR transmitter diodes is arranged in correspondingly lower density next to the operating line. In the setting process, two effects are used on the operating line, specifically both the radiation of the optical transmitter reflected by the finger and also the radiation of the ambient light that is thrown into shadow by the finger. The resultant signal distribution on the optical receivers can be used for reliable evaluation of the finger's position in nearly all environmental conditions.

  • Patent number: 8162721
Abstract: In through-feed grinding workpieces by grinding stones rotating around the axes of spindles, the spindles are tiltably held by elastic holding means around tilt axes substantially orthogonal to the direction of exit and entrance of the workpieces with respect to the grinding stones. When a grinding loads are imposed on the entrance sides of the grinding stones, the spindles are tilted by offset loads around the tilt axes against the force of urging means in such a manner that the axial displacement and the exit displacement of the grinding stone due to the offset load are substantially the same. The grinding stones are reset around the tilt axes by the elastic holding means immediately before the end of processing at which time the axial displacement is smaller. This makes it possible to reduce the number of defectively ground articles coming from the through-feed grinding and reduce the wear in the grinding stones.
