  • Patent number: 8332672
Abstract: Multiple components of a computer system may be capable of entering wake and sleep states. The power consumption of a processor during wake state may draw significant amount of current. In order to keep power consumption of a voltage regulator low, a two-phase voltage regulator may be used during wake state. During sleep state, since power consumption is lower, the two-phase voltage regulator may be operated in a single-phase mode to further reduce voltage regulator power consumption.

  • Patent number: 8260942
Abstract: A system and method of constructing cluster views may involve determining that a process such as an application server process having an IP address is stopped. Another IP address may be assigned to the process in response to determining that the process is stopped, wherein the other IP address is dedicated to processes that are stopped. If a connection request for the process is received at the other IP address, the connection request may be actively refused. The active refusal may significantly reduce the amount of time required to generate cluster views.

  • Patent number: 8190693
Abstract: A system and method of reclaiming lost Internet customers may involve detecting an outage condition associated with a host of an electronic commerce (e-commerce) web site. Customer data can be extracted from packets destined for the host, wherein the packets could be associated with transactions between customers and the web site. The extracted customer data may be stored and, upon detecting a resolution of the outage condition, a customer database can be searched based on the extracted customer data in order to identify customer contact information. A customer reclamation message may then be sent to the customer, wherein the message can incentivize the customer to return to the web site and request completion of the transaction.

  • Patent number: 8078873
Abstract: Techniques for two-way authentication between two communication endpoints (e.g., two devices) using a one-way out-of-band (OOB) channel are presented. Here, in embodiments, both communication endpoints may be securely authenticated as long as the one-way OOB channel is tamper-proof. Embodiments of the invention do not require the one-way OOB channel to be private to ensure that both endpoints are securely authenticated. Since providing a two-way or private OOB channel adds to the cost of a platform, embodiments of the invention provide for a simple and secure method for two-way authentication that uses only a non-private one-way OOB channel and thus helping to reduce platform cost. Other embodiments may be described and claimed.
