  • Patent number: 4093916
Abstract: A digital tachometer arrangement in which pulses resulting from rotation of a shaft, are counted over a predetermined time interval. The time interval is established by counting pulses from a high frequency oscillator. The counting of pulses from the high frequency oscillator is begun only at a predetermined instant when the pulses from the rotating shaft attain a positive edge. Relating the beginning of the time interval precisely to a predetermine edge of the pulses from the rotating shaft, provides for a stabilized display which counts the pulses from the shaft during the preset time interval. The count of the pulses from the rotating shaft over the preset time interval, is proportional to the rotational speed of the shaft, and is displayed on a digital readout connected to a binary-coded decimal counter receiving pulses from the rotating shaft.

  • Patent number: 4068016
Abstract: An arrangement for regulating the evaporation rate and the layer buildup in the production of optically effective thin layers in a vacuum on substrates with controlled evaporator power and with continuous measuring of the optical characteristics of the deposited layer. The evaporation is started with a given evaporator power and with the start of change of the optical characteristics of the layer, the measured result after forming the time derivative is continuously compared with the output signal of a signal generator. This output signal reproduces the time rate of change of the optical properties during the layer buildup. The difference signal of the comparison signal is used to increase the evaporator power if the layer buildup lags, and to reduce this power if the layer buildup is too fast.

  • Patent number: 4024291
Abstract: An arrangement for regulating the vapor deposited layer build-up in the production of deposited optically active thin layers on substrates in a vacuum. The optical characteristics of the deposited layer are measured continuously and the measurements are converted into proportional electrical signals. These signals are differentiated twice, with the second derivative serving to provide the zero-axis crossings of the signals. The vapor deposition process is interrupted dependent on the zero-axis crossings.
