  • Patent number: 7386512
Abstract: An improved interactive network system is provided that allows the Network Operator to control the transfer of information to and from the network end users, the system preferably using triggers or markers embedded within the programming broadcast to users via the network. As a consequence of this system, the Network Operator is able to efficiently garner revenues from third parties transacting business over the network and to control the look and feel of programming offered to network users. Additionally the system can be used as a means of limiting network access, filtering programming, providing on-screen graphics or audible signals for particular programming types or providers, bookmarking programming, profiling network users, targeting advertising, and simplifying network transactions.

  • Patent number: 7385905
Abstract: When an optical recording medium having a plurality of data layers is being read from and/or written to, the input beam experiences an aberration, inter alia in the top layers of the data layers. In order, nevertheless, to achieve a high data density, a device for correcting the spherical aberration is located in the beam path of the input beam. In the case of the use of an optical diode in which the input beam and the reflected beam have directions of polarization perpendicular to one another, such a device is expensive to implement and associated with a reduced optical efficiency. It is an object of the invention to propose an apparatus for reading from and/or writing to optical recording media, in the case of which a high optical efficiency and balancing of the spherical aberration are achieved with low outlay.

  • Patent number: 7383018
Abstract: A satellite television ground system, particularly for a make or break satellite television signal system, includes an outdoor unit and an indoor unit that are in communication with each other via a single coaxial cable and an optional separate single conductor for power. The satellite television ground system is operative to measure and reverse frequency conversion errors utilizing DSP techniques, allowing for more precise generation and transmission of uplink signals from the satellite television ground system. Control data for the system is sent via a low data rate connection on a power cable thereof, or by a narrowband signaling channel via a coax cable. The system also utilizes a single reference oscillator to drive the various frequency synthesizers and the like. The satellite television ground system utilizes related oscillators for the uplink and downlink sections. • Patent number: 7379124
Abstract: Progressive rounding error and convergence error encountered due to multiple use of a center correction adjustment of an image of a video projection display is reduced by calculating a 3×3 matrix for a moved color signal where the non center matrix values represent the difference between the initially measured sensor values stored at initial alignment, and stored most recently measured sensor values. The matrix center value is the sum of the averaged values calculated from the edge center errors, the stored sum of previous moves and the current move. Rerun of the sensor finding routine resets the stored move sum to zero.

  • Patent number: 7379442
Abstract: So-called LCH packets are defined in the Hiperlan Type 2 System for wire-free transmission of video and audio data streams. These LCH packets have a length of 54 data bytes. Furthermore, the Hiperlan/2 Standard provides for so-called ARQ messages to be sent back to the transmitter in an SCH packet in a QOS mode (Quality Of Service), in which all the LCH data packets must be confirmed by the receiver. Space for the LCH and SCH data packets must be provided in a buffer store in the Hiperlan/2 interface for each connection that is set up. When there is a possibility of several hundred connections having been set up, separate reservation of memory areas for LCH and SCH packets would involve considerable complexity for the memory organization. The invention proposes that only one common area be reserved for LCH and SCH packets in the buffer store. The section which is provided for each LCH package is of such a size that it corresponds to a value 2n where n?[0, 1, 2, 3, . . .
