Abstract: Systems and methods for data management and data processing are provided. Embodiments may include systems and methods relating to fast data selection with reasonably high quality results, and may include a faster data selection function and a slower data selection function. Various embodiments may include systems and methods relating to data hashing and/or data redundancy identification and elimination for a data set or a string of data. Embodiments may include a first selection function is used to pre-select boundary points or data blocks/windows from a data set or data stream and a second selection function is used to refine the boundary points or data blocks/windows. The second selection function may be better at determining the best places for boundary points or data blocks/windows in the data set or data stream. In various embodiments, data may be processed by a first faster hash function and slower more discriminating second hash function.

Abstract: A method setting a maximum number of determinations for computing power allocation responsive to allocating power among multiple users in one subchannel of an OFDM system; beginning determination of maximum sum-throughput of users in the OFDM system with a randomly generated power profile with an iteration including: i) computing a sum-throughput using a power profile; ii) keeping a previous power profile if the sum-throughput of the current power profile sum-throughput is less than the previous power profile sum-throughput; iii) finding an index of power profile that has maximum sum-throughput; and ascertaining power profiles when the iteration is complete.

Abstract: In accordance with aspects of the present principles, the quality of voice traffic and bandwidth utilization for data communication over a wireless multi-hop network may be improved. In an implementation of the present principles, a data packet transmission rate over a wireless multi-hop network may be controlled at an interface between the multi-hop network and a wired network based on a voice packet quality measure calculated from network parameters. Voice and data traffic quality and efficiency may be further improved by reordering a packet transmission queue at the interface to avoid timeout and/or varying a packet queue length at the interface using an acknowledgement window transmitted to a data packet sender.
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are disclosed for applying successive multi-rank beamforming strategies (e.g., successive preceding strategies) for the design of precoders over a set of parallel channels. Successive beamforming is applied to a narrow band channel model and is also applied for finer quantization of a single beamforming vector (e.g., recursive beamforming). A first embodiment provides the optimal approach with high complexity. An alternative embodiment provides successive beamforming for near optimal preceding selection with medium complexity. A low complexity method for precoder selection is also provided wherein a channel representative matrix for the set of parallel channels is determined and successive beamforming on the calculated channel representative is applied.

Abstract: A method includes inserting a virtual circuit connectivity verification packet into aggregated traffic of m packets transmitted over multiple pseudowires in a network path, replying to the transmitted m packets with a virtual circuit connectivity verification packet with a packet loss indication when at least one packet loss is detected in an m packet group, and adjusting a rate of transmitting the aggregated m packets responsive to the packet loss indication. In the preferred embodiment the multiple pseudowires are one of constant bit rate and variable bit rate and the adjusting of the rate includes rate adjustment of variable bit rate pseudowires.
Abstract: Traditional networked file systems like NFS do not extend to wide-area due to network latency and dynamics introduced in the WAN environment. To address that problem, a wide-area networked file system is based on a traditional networked file system (NFS/CIFS) and extends to the WAN environment by introducing a file redirector infrastructure residing between the central file server and clients. The file redirector infrastructure is invisible to both the central server and clients so that the change to NFS is minimal. That minimizes the interruption to the existing file service when deploying WireFS on top of NFS. The system includes an architecture for an enterprise-wide read/write wide area network file system, protocols and data structures for metadata and data management in this system, algorithms for history based prefetching for access latency minimization in metadata operations, and a distributed randomized algorithm for the implementation of global LRU cache replacement scheme.
Abstract: A group detection arrangement for a multiple antenna receiver structure usable with a multiuser multiple access communication channel with fading is herein disclosed. The group detection arrangement uses an optimized channel dependent group partitioning technique.

Abstract: A method for selecting a signal to noise ratio for a communications code includes obtaining extrinsic information transfer (EXIT) information for a repeat-zigzag Hadamard (RZH) code responsive to a Hadamard order and a signal to noise ratio, determining code parameters for an irregular repeat zigzag Hadamard (IRZH) code for a corresponding code rate in response to the obtained EXIT values, and repeating the step of obtaining the EXIT information for a different signal to noise ratio if the corresponding code rate is other than a selected rate. The corresponding code rate is related to a bit error rate. In a preferred embodiment, the step of obtaining EXIT information includes one of obtaining an EXIT curve for repeat-zigzag Hadamard code by Monte Carlo simulation using serial decoding or obtaining an EXIT function for parallel decoding of the repeat-zigzag Hadamard code by using equations.

Abstract: Information, such as files received from a client, etc., is stored in a storage system, such as a content addressable storage system. A file server receives data from a client and chunks the data into blocks of data. The file server also generates metadata for use in forming a data structure. The blocks of data are stored in a block store and a copy of the data blocks and the metadata are locally cached at the file server. A commit server retrieves the metadata. In at least one embodiment, the metadata is retrieved from an update log shared between the file server and the commit server. Based on the retrieved metadata, the commit server generates a version of a data structure. The data structure is then stored at the block store.
