  • Patent number: 8082708
Abstract: Synthetic doors composed a rectangular frame with of skins of compression molded sheets secured to opposite sides of the frame and a core of foamed plastics with a window light therein are improved with a novel glazing cleat for securing a window light in an aperture in such a door that includes plate that rests against edges the skins about the aperture, the plate having an upright rim engaging a face of a window light and downwardly directed flanges which, with tangs on a retainer member having a upright tab engaging the opposite face the window light when nesting with the plate sandwiches the skins between the flanges and tangs to take advantage of the mechanical strength of the skins. Further if a fire resistant plate is married to internal face of each skin, the cleat will take advantage of the mechanical strength of such plates in supporting the window light in the case of fires, even if the outer or exterior skin or skins are turned to ash by a fire.

  • Patent number: 7789234
Abstract: A display package for scissors consists of an elongated, generally flat member having a top and bottom end, a raised hollow pedestal means mounted adjacent to said bottom end of said member, the pedestal means having a top portion with means operable to secure a finger ring of a pair scissors thereto and support the scissors horizontally above the card with arch means located adjacent to said top end of said member operable to restrain the swing of at least one of the blades of a pair of scissors mounted on the top portion of the pedestal when the handles of such scissors are manipulated by a customer. It is preferred that the top of the pastel include means for rotation of the connection with the scissors so that a greater range of manipulation is available to a prospective customer. In addition the card can include a clear cover if desired.

  • Patent number: 7431532
Abstract: Through the use of a rail system having spaced apart rails tracking above and along a roadway with arcuate guides associated with each rail and a cone magazine sequentially delivering traffic cones in a horizontal position between the rails in front of the arcuate guides, each horizontally disposed cone will be brought to an upright position when the top of its base contacts the guides as a result of friction with the roadway of one edge of the base of the traffic cone and movement of the guides with the rails. In one embodiment the magazine includes a mechanical arm with a cone clamp at its distal end, arranged to move the cone clamp from a cone storage to a location between the rails to sequentially deliver cones to the rail system. An auxiliary system is provided to reposition upright traffic cone from the rail system in a taper for closing off access to roadways.

  • Patent number: 6893594
Abstract: Novel window and patio door frame members are formed by an extrusion process that provide these members with at least one channel and with an outer weather resistant surface and an internal imitation wood surface together with integrated sealing strips formed in the channels for the doors, these components being fully integrated. The process is carried out by extruding a foamed profile with a channel through a first die therein having reduced dimensions where a protective shell is desired, co-extruding a plastic with said foamed profile in a second die to form a protective shell where the reduced dimensions occur, passing the co-extrusion though a calibration die, and then heating the co-extrusion at selected location where weather stripping is desired and then passing the co-extrusion through a final die where plastic weather stripping is extruded therewith and then cooling the integrated member.

  • Patent number: 6871403
Abstract: An improved hair razor includes a cylindrical barrel forming the first part of an elongated handle having a razor blade holder joined to one end thereof, a tubular member forming the second part of the elongated handle having a finger ring formed therein, and an armature means connecting other ends the first part and the second part of the elongated handle in axial alignment, the armature means operable to allow the first part and the second part to rotate relative to each other and selectively lock the first part and the second part against rotation at a plurality of positions. The multiple positions available for the finger ring orientation lessens fatigue and stress of beauticians and barbers using the novel razor.

  • Patent number: 6665997
Abstract: In a synthetic door composed of two molded skins attached to a frame composed of stiles and rails of thin wooden strips to which the skins are adhered, with the core filled with a plastic foam, the improvement comprising a insert mechanically joined to each stile along their entire length, each insert having a channel device operable to interlock with its associated stile thereby providing the approximate strength of thicker wooden stiles conventionally used in constructing such doors, as well as providing finished vertical edges of the resulting door while significantly reducing the overall costs of such doors. In addition the insert can be employed to form an interlocking frame by extending the insert beyond the ends of the stiles and milling the ends of the rails so that they interlock with the channel means of the insert.

  • Patent number: 6380272
Abstract: Structural members for doors and the like can be manufactured from plastic foamed composites containing wood flour by the steps of (1) dry mixing a blend of powders including PVC powder, wood flour, powdered thermal stabilizers, powdered foaming agent and a powdered gelatinization agent, (2) adding the mixed powder to a thermal stirring mixer to obtain a homogeneous dispersion of the several powders (3) transferring the homogeneous dispersion of powders to a cold stirring mixer and stirring at speeds sufficient to avoid agglomeration of the homogeneous dispersion of the several powders and (4) placing the non-agglomerated homogeneous dispersion of the several powders in a feeding hopper of an extrusion machine and extruding shapes for the desired components. The vacuum venting of the extrusion machine can be controlled to achieve components with more desirable surface features. Lubricants can be added to the homogeneous dispersions of the several powders to aid in the extrusion process.
