Patent number: 5079867Abstract: An ironer folder is provided in which an ironed flatwork item such as a sheet is folded into quarter panels along its length by a pivoting arm. The folded sheet is placed on a sequence of conveyors which carry the folded flatwork into engagement with a series of three cross-folding stations whereby the flatwork may be cross-folded three times and discharged from the apparatus. The longitudinal and lateral free edges of the folded flatwork are interiorly disposed in the discharged folded item so as to present an attractive folded appearance having a periphery defined by continuous bight portions.Type: GrantFiled: March 5, 1990Date of Patent: January 14, 1992Assignee: Chicago Dryer CompanyInventors: Kasimir Kober, Martin Borucki

Patent number: 5074835Abstract: A combination is provided including a conveyor for bringing a zigzag folded web of forms to a fold-cutting device. The device comprises a table movable in the vertical plane, vertical confining walls for the form stack, a unit-opening finger supported such that it can be brought partly into the form stack to lift the upper forms so that a slit is formed. A flexible plate extends and moves in the horizontal plane so that it can be brought into the formed slit. A knife plate positioned below the flexible plate is movable together with the flexible plate. A cutting edge of the knife plate is positioned at some distance behind the leading edge of the flexible plate until the flexible plate is moved adjacent the fold to be cut and there is brought to a stop, after which the knife plate can be moved an additional distance for cutting of the fold.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 1990Date of Patent: December 24, 1991Assignee: B.V. Patent number: 5056108Abstract: In a spread spectrum communication system, sequence signals are developed in both a transmitter and receiver, in each case being derived from a clock signal through digital count-down and logic circuitry including a programmable counter which receives control number defining groups of signals from a memory under control of an indexing counter. A sequence signal in the transmitter is applied through a filter to produce a filtered signal which is propagated as a sequence of variations of alternating polarity with predetermined varying durations occurring in a predetermined distinctive order. A received signal and sequence signal of the same form as in the transmitter are applied to a product detector the output of which is applied to an integrator. Loop circuitry is provided for synchronizing the generation of the sequence signal in the receiver with that in the transmitter. A plurality of channels may be provided, using common synchronizing and other circuitry.Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 1990Date of Patent: October 8, 1991Inventor: Van Metre Lund

Patent number: 5019194Abstract: In a method for manufacturing a web of a ground covering having a web of pile fabric forming the upper side and cushion elements attached to its underside in grating-type configuration, in order to simplify the manufacturing process, plastic agglomerates corresponding to the cushion elements are produced from a pasty plastics material from which an elastomer is formable by curing, and are deposited in grating-type configuration on an endless conveyer belt; first a reinforcement web with openings therein and next the underside of the web of pile fabric are then placed on the plastic agglomerates such that the plastics material penetrates the openings in the reinforcement web and wets the underside of the web of pile fabric; the plastics material is subsequently cured by heat treatment and the web of pile fabric, the reinforcement web and the cushion elements are thereby firmly bonded to one another.Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 1989Date of Patent: May 28, 1991Assignee: J. Patent number: 4823550Abstract: Fluid flow control valves are provided having a jet pump or aspirator connected to a plurality of fluid passageways. Fluid flow from one of the passageways through the jet pump creates a partial vacuum enabling fluid flow to be drawn through the other of the fluid passageways connected to the jet pump. Such valves enable hydraulic fluids of a single-acting piston-cylinder unit or the like to be readily exhausted.Type: GrantFiled: June 23, 1987Date of Patent: April 25, 1989Assignee: Templeton, Kenly & Co.Inventor: Arnold F. Patent number: 4820207Abstract: A micro-miniature electrical contact comprises a first contact portion having spaced cantilever contact leaves with distal ends adapted to mutually engage, together with outwardly bowed control longitudinal portions. When received in a mating socket the leaves are resiliently urged inwardly to effect desired receptacle engagement and electrical connection. In a preferred embodiment, the contact is formed by deep drawing a seamless, integral, generally cylindrical member in which a contact portion with leaves integrally joined at their distal ends is integrally formed with a receptacle portion adapted to engage an electrical conductor. Because of their construction, the provided contacts are adapted for repeated use without loss of resiliency.Type: GrantFiled: August 19, 1987Date of Patent: April 11, 1989Assignee: Labinal Components and Systems, Inc.Inventor: Richard Zic

Patent number: 4760213Abstract: A lightning conductor having an electrically conductive surface element insulated from an earth rod. The surface element is substantially continuous, but has an aperture defining an air gap. The air gap is located near the top of the earth rod. In atmospheric conditions existing before lightning discharges, arcing occurs between the surface element and the earth rod. This creates plasma about the tip of the earth rod, leading to upward leader formation. A high impedance static drain may be connected between the surface element and the earth rod.Type: GrantFiled: December 17, 1986Date of Patent: July 26, 1988Inventor: John R. Gumley

Patent number: 4710133Abstract: This invention relates to electrical connectors and more particularly to electrical connectors for propagation of a relatively large number of signals between electrical circuits and at very high velocities. The number of signals which can be propagated is quite large in relation to the size of the connectors of the invention and at the same time, the signals can be transmitted at very high velocity and with minimal interference between the signals propagated or from external signal sources. The connectors are also advantageous in that the electrical characteristics of the propagation paths are uniform and they can be readily matched to the characteristics of the circuits which are interconnected so as to minimize standing wave phenomena. The invention also facilitates connection to a plurality of circuit board circuits while providing substantially complete separation of signals propagated to and from the circuits.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 1986Date of Patent: December 1, 1987Assignee: TRW Inc.Inventor: Richard J. Lindeman

Patent number: 4541678Abstract: A board-indexing arrangement is provided in an end loading, rotary cam actuated, zero-insertion-force circuit board connector. An activating member drives a resilient arm locating member that temporarily presses inward on the edge of a circuit board in the receiving slot of the connector to insure seating of the board against a lateral index surface at the opposite end of the connector and thereby insures registration between the contacts of the connector and the conductors on the board. It also drives the rotary cam of the connector, moving the connector's contact strips in and out of engagement with the circuit board conductors.Type: GrantFiled: July 1, 1983Date of Patent: September 17, 1985Assignee: TRW Inc.Inventor: Robert E. Lumpp

Patent number: 4506946Abstract: A guide for use in making an optical signal transmissive connection between the ends of a pair of single optic fibers. The guide comprises a body having a mid-portion and a pair of end portions and defining a channel extending through said body and having open ends. The channel includes a tapered upper corner which extends longitudinally along the mid-portion of the body. The end portions of the channel extend downward at an acute angle to the mid-portion of the body so that a fiber inserted into an open end of the channel is automatically guided into the upper corner in the mid-portion of the channel. In some embodiments the guides are formed of at least three pre-determined length glass rods which are disposed in a side-by-side array parallel to one another with longitudinal peripheral portions of adjacent rods in contact with and connected to each other to form a cusp-shaped interstitial channel therebetween and with one cusp forming the corner.Type: GrantFiled: December 8, 1978Date of Patent: March 26, 1985Assignee: TRW Inc.Inventor: Malcolm H.
