  • Patent number: 5174035
Abstract: An attitude sensing apparatus for detecting a tilt angle and an azimuth angle of the tilt of a structure includes a pair of detecting devices disposed on the structure at right angles to each other. Each of the detecting devices consists of a rotary shaft rotatably supported from a structure to be measured, a sensor support integrally held by the rotary shaft and biased in the vertical direction by gravity, a tilt angle sensor supported by the sensor support for detecting a tilt angle of the sensor support within a plane containing the axis of the rotary shaft, and a controller for controlling rotation of the rotary shaft with respect to the structure. The apparatus also includes a calculator which calculates a maximum tilt angle and an azimuth angle thereof of the structure on the basis of tilt angles detected by the two tilt angle sensors. This calculation is simply and rapidly effected according to approximating formulae, and yet at a good precision.

  • Patent number: 5156855
Abstract: A shaped article such as a sanitary pottery product is formed through a pressure slip casting process. A mold having a molding cavity defined therein and a slip inlet/outlet hole communicating with the molding cavity is positioned on the support surface of a mold table while the mold table is being maintained horizontally. Then, the mold table is tilted through a first angle with respect to a horizontal plane so that an inner end of the slip inlet/outlet hole is positioned near a lowermost end of the molding cavity in the mold. Thereafter, a slip is introduced under pressure into the molding cavity through the slip inlet/outlet hole. After the clay of the introduced slip is deposited to a desired thickness, the excess slip is discharged from the molding cavity through the slip inlet/outlet hole.

  • Patent number: 5135067
Abstract: An electric power steering system which additionally includes a radial arm extending from a steering rod, an axial shaft extending in parallel with the axial center line of the steering rod, an axial bore formed in the casing of the system for guiding axial movement of the axial shaft substantially without any play, and a spring member urging the axial shaft against a side wall of the axial bore. Thus, rotation of the steering rod around its axial center line may be prevented with a relatively small force. Therefore, no excessive force needs to be applied to the axial shaft, and the axial shaft would not encounter any substantial resistance to its axial movement.

  • Patent number: 5123557
Abstract: A gas cap permanently mounted to an access door for preventing back flow of fuel from a filler neck. A tubular member is secured to the access door including a mating member for connecting with the filler neck and locking members. Upon the presence of pressure caused by a fuel backflow, the locking members are engaged to the filler neck preventing the gas cap from being removed. Thus, release of fuel in vehicle accidents, such as rollovers, is prevented.
