Abstract: Benzo[b]perhydroheterocyclic arylamine compounds have shown to be particularly useful as stabilizers. The compounds may serve as antioxidants, antiozoants, heat stabilizers and ultraviolet light stabilizers and such compounds are oil soluble, thus particularly suited for use as an antioxidant in a lubricating oil composition.
Abstract: A method for determining the viscosity and relative change of viscosity of a fluid over plural shear rates caused by a decreasing or increasing pressure differential resulting from fluid flow to a defined chamber in a capillary system. The flow of liquid through the capillary restriction, the pressure variation rate and known dimensions of the system can be used typically by a processor to determine a rheological property of a fluid.
Abstract: Disclosed is a lubricating oil composition containing an oil of lubricating viscosity and a particularly effective mixture of a nitro-substituted diphenylamine and a diarylamine which together provide superior oxidation inhibition.
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of preparing terminally functionalized telechelic polymers using a cationic living polymer product or a terminal tert-chloride chain end of a carbocationic quasiliving polymer product, which comprises quenching the polymer product with an N-substituted pyrrole to thereby functionalize the N-substituted pyrrole at the terminal reactive polymer chain end(s). Also disclosed are the terminal functionalized polyisobuyl N-substituted pyrrole compounds where the polyisobutyl group is substituted at the 2 and 3 position of the N-substituted pyrrole.

Abstract: A process for the manufacture of a low sediment overbased metal dithiophosphate composition is disclosed. The process uses delayed addition of a C1 to C5 mono-carboxylic acid promoter during the neutralization of a primary dialkyl dithiophosphoric acid. The process results in reducing crude sediment whereby the resulting overbased metal dithiophosphate may need not undergo additional filtration steps prior to its intended use.
