  • Patent number: 7364011
Abstract: The present invention includes a power booster pipe suitable for attenuating sound associated with the intake or exhaust of an internal combustion engine and reducing pressure drop associated with movement of gases during operation of the engine. Generally, a diffuser portion is combined with an attenuation portion. One or more tubes of perforated material, such as steel and perforated flutes running the length of the tube increases the surface area of sound attenuating material exposed to combustion gases and the accompanying noise. The perforated flutes and tube can be encircled with sound reducing infill material. A low pressure drop design can be incorporated which includes a gradually increasing diameter tube utilized to route the combustion gases.

  • Patent number: 6829590
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and system to implement risk management of foreign exchange of currency related to an online transaction. According to the present invention an exchange price and a tolerance parameter can be determined for a foreign currency as the foreign currency relates to a base currency. A computer system can receive a spot price relating to a market price for exchange of a foreign currency and compare the spot price with the tolerance parameter. The system can modify the exchange price if spot price exceeds the tolerance parameter. In addition, the system can receive information including the base currency amount involved in an online transaction and transmit the base currency amount and the foreign currency amount, wherein the foreign currency amount is derived according to the exchange price.

  • Patent number: 6701965
Abstract: A method and device is provided for repairing a plumbing waste pipe without having to remove a failed portion of the waste pipe. A flexible sleeve with a flange is fit inside the failed waste pipe such that the outer circumference of the sleeve is in radial contact with the inner circumference of the failed pipe and the body of the sleeve extends through the failed waste pipe beyond the point of failure. The flange can be fastened between the plumbing fixture and the failed waste pipe to securely maintain the flexible sleeve within the failed pipe. Water and waste material will enter the sleeve through the flange and pass through the interior of the sleeve beyond the point of failure in the waste pipe. The water and waste can then be discharged into the waste pipe to be carried along its normal route.

  • Patent number: 6625583
Abstract: A computer implemented method for interacting with a user of a trading computer includes forming a number of ticker pages, simultaneously displaying ticker page selection elements, and displaying one of the ticker pages based on an input identifying one of the page selection elements. Each ticker page includes trade order information for a negotiable item (such as a stock or other equity) and each ticker page selection element is associated with one of the ticker pages. A trading computer includes a screen that can operate as both an output display and an input digitizer and a processor coupled to the screen and to a memory. The memory includes instructions for causing the processor to form and display ticker pages on the screen. Each ticker page includes trade order information for a different negotiable item. A currently displayed ticker page may be determined based on a selection of a ticker page selection elements.

  • Patent number: 6358053
Abstract: A computer-implemented method and system for providing online language instruction to a student. A student client computer logs into a host system to commence an instruction session. The host assigns an instructor to the instruction session. A scene is simultaneously displayed on a student client computer and a client computer operated by the assigned instructor. A voice communication link is also provided. A predetermined lesson plan can be executed during the instruction session. The lesson plan can be selected according to a student profile stored on the host system. Study goals can also be listed on the computer operated by the instructor. Completion of a study goal can also be stored in the student profile. The student profile can be used to determine a next study goal for a particular student. The scene can be an interactive scene manipulated via the student client computer or via the client computer operated by the instructor.

  • Patent number: 6347333
Abstract: A Virtual Campus including interactive work plans and administrative resources presented online through a WEB interface. Through the Virtual Campus a learner can communicate with others, create and update an individual work plan, access required resources, store work, and be apprised of Virtual University announcements. While online, learners may create work groups with other learners, use a suite of business tools, interact with a registrar, or open a library data base. In addition, an online Virtual Campus can assess those skills a student has successfully mastered by analyzing progress through the aggregate of course modules completed. Academic and career guidance can be formulated referencing the accumulated detail of the students learning experience. Each software module and element can have a list of skills associated with it. The database of skills can reflect a students capabilities in greater detail than is possible using only a final course grade or grade point average.
