Abstract: A holographic recording medium comprising a conductive substrate, a photoconductive layer and an electrically alterable layer of a linear, low molecular weight hydrocarbon polymer has improved fatigue resistance. An acrylic barrier layer can be interposed between the photoconductive and electrically alterable layers.
Abstract: Organic volume phase holographic recording medium comprising an .alpha.-diketone in an acrylic polyester polymer is desensitized by exposing the medium to desensitizing light after recording is complete. This inactivates the .alpha.-diketone and prevents damage to the medium during readout.

Abstract: To improve the adherence of an olefin-SO.sub.2 copolymer film employed as an electron beam resist to a metallic substrate, a thin film of gold is first applied to the substrate. The resulting bond is strong enough to withstand exposure to electron beams, development of the resist film and electroplating of the film witout undercutting, lifting or distortion of the film.

Abstract: A single crystal of lithium tantalate is pretreated to diffuse lithium atoms into the crystal. Niobium is then diffused into the pretreated crystal to form an optical waveguide.
