  • Patent number: 5386678
Abstract: The track for a pressure chamber overlaps the track for a clamper in movement while clamping a bag filled with an article, at a position beneath the latter track and with a level difference. The bag supported by the clamper is held, at its upper edge positioned right below the clamper, between the upper side of a chamber body of the pressure chamber and the upper side of a cover and in a sealed condition. The air in the bag is expelled through a notched line formed in an upper portion of the bag as the pressure within the pressure chamber is reduced, and then the bag is sealed at a position below the notched line.

  • Patent number: 5385199
Abstract: In a continuous casting apparatus having a pair of moving mold walls between which is defined a molten metal reservoir, the surface of molten metal is covered with an insulating member disposed within the molten metal reservoir. Projecting from opposite sides of the insulating member at locations adjacent the moving mold walls and toward the direction of movement of the mold walls are immersion walls which are immersed into the molten metal. The horizontal distance between the surface of each immersion wall and the surface of the moving mold wall closer thereto is more than 3 mm but not more than 10 mm. The molten metal within the gap between the moving mold wall and the immersion wall steadily flows outward following the movement of the mold wall, and accordingly fresh molten metal flows into the gap and circulates within the gap without stagnation. Therefore, even if slag flows into the gap, the slag positively flows outward without becoming accummulated therein.

  • Patent number: 5348628
Abstract: The present invention relates to the method of treating the salt bath liquid. In the surface treatment of the steel material by the use of the high-temperature salt bath mainly comprising sodium hydroxide and sodium nitrate, the salt ingredients contained in the washings generated are separated to be recovered and the metal salts contained are separated in the form of the insoluble salts. The salts contained in the nitrate radical-containing liquid system are recovered as the free acids again, the alkalies being recovered, and the reagents contained in the overflow from the salt-washing tank being recovered. The anode chamber liquid generated in the recoverying operation of the reagents is returned to the washing tank again to increase the concentration of the salts. The anode chamber liquid is poured into the pickling tank to reduce the oxidizing soluble metal salts contained in the washings by iron within the pickling tank, whereby the oxidizing soluble metal salts are insolubilized.

  • Patent number: 5346182
Abstract: A teeming trough for pouring molten metal into a mold. Cooling water jackets are formed at both sides of a horizontal body for molten metal teeming. Valves for adjusting cooling water feeds are disposed in cooling water feed paths for supplying cooling water into respective water cooling jackets. A lateral bend of the body at the forward end thereof is detected by a suitable sensor. The valves are controlled on the basis of the result of the sensor detection so that the balance between cooling water feeds to the water cooling jackets may be varied whereby a bend of the body can be corrected.

  • Patent number: 5307690
Abstract: A temperature compensating device for a torque measuring apparatus of the magneto-strictive type. A torque transmission shaft has a magnetically anisotropic portion formed on the periphery of the shaft. A sensing coil is disposed around the torque transmission shaft in corresponding relation to the magnetically anisotropic portion. A DC voltage from a constant voltage generator is supplied to the sensing coil. A torque detection signal is derived from the AC component of the voltage developed across the sensing coil, and the DC resistance of the sensing coil is detected from the DC component of the voltage, whereby the temperature of the sensing coil is detected. The torque detection characteristics of the apparatus is temperature-compensated on the basis of the temperature detection signal.

  • Patent number: 5277298
Abstract: A forged conveyor trolley bracket has head, arm and base portions bounded by sides, and a bent elbow formed in the arm portion medially of the head and base portions. A web, disposed centrally between the sides along the base and arm portions, has outer and inner faces. Projecting from the web outer face adjacent to the bracket sides are a pair of base portion reinforcing ribs and an outer pair of arm portion reinforcing ribs forming continuations of the base portion reinforcing ribs. An inner pair of arm portion reinforcing ribs project from the web inner face along the arm portion in opposed aligned relation with the outer pair of arm portion ribs; and, this inner pair of ribs extends from the base portion along the arm portion with a depth which increases to substantially equal the depth of the outer pair of ribs at the bent elbow, and which gradually decreases from the bent elbow to the head portion where the inner pair of ribs terminates.

  • Patent number: 5277974
Abstract: A heat-bondable fiber in the form of a core-sheath type composite fiber comprising a core component and a sheath component which covers the periphery of the core component. The sheath component is formed of copolymer polyethylene consisting of predetermined material and having predetermined properties. The core component is made of a fiber-forming polymer whose melting point is more than 30.degree. C. higher than that of the sheath component. The fineness of the core-sheath type composite fiber is less than 8 deniers. Such heat-bondable fiber provides a nonwoven fabric in which the force of adhesion of the heat-bondable fiber to other dissimilar fibers is high and the hand of the fabric is soft. This nonwoven fabric contains at least 15 percent of the heat-bondable fiber and is heat-treated at a temperature less than the melting point of the core component.

  • Patent number: 5248288
Abstract: An apparatus for changing workpiece holders in a transfer press. An attachment 90 having suction cups 10 is removably attached to a cross-bar 8. The attachment 90 is supported on a attachment support base 19 disposed in a lower die 2a-2e. A movable upright support 12 which is movable between the attachment support base 19 and the cross-bar 8 is disposed on a die change truck 4. An attachment bearer 17 having a holding device 16 capable of holding the attachment 90 is provided on the top end of the movable upright support 12. The attachment 90 which has been supported on the attachment support base 19 is, in turn, held in position by the holding device 16 of the movable upright support 12, and then through movement of the movable upright support 12 the attachment 90 is transferred to the position of the cross-bar 8 for being fitted on the cross bar 8. Change of suction cups 10 is performed simply through attachment 90 changing. Thus, change of workpiece holders in connection with work change is automatized.
