  • Patent number: 4922520
Abstract: An efficient, easily-programmed and annoyance-free polling system includes the utilization of multiple voice synthesizers in multiple identical Telephone Interface Units (TIUs) operating independently under control of their own microprocessor, with the TIUs being connected to a bank of telephone lines. A Master Unit with its own voice synthesizer programs the TIUs for simultaneous polling and receipt of polled information. The voice synthesizer in the Master Unit is used for easy message editing and the elimination of "dead time". A personal or other computer is used for initialization, message set up and editing, telephone number generation, and cross-correlation and printing of polling results, with the TIUs working independently for simultaneously polling over many telephone lines. In one embodiment, programming of each individual TIU is accomplished through a specialized coding system unique to polling operations.

  • Patent number: 4911121
Abstract: An engine protection device which has a valve assembly supplying engine oil to an hydraulic cylinder which in turn is attached to the throttle of an internal combustion engine or governor of a stationary engine. If the oil pressure drops below a predetermined level, a sensor in the valve unit will cause the oil to drain from the hydraulic cylinder so as to slow down or stop the operation of the engine. In addition to using the oil of the engine itself, air or gas can also be used.

  • Patent number: 4868018
Abstract: Hard, durable, water-resistant simulated marble products are made by coating a support surface with a mixture of epoxy resin, epoxy resin hardener, pigment and a powdered material such as portland cement, powdered clay, a mix of portlant cement and lime, powdered lime, a mix of portland cement and silica sand or mixtures thereof. After the coating is applied a water-based acrylic polymer with pigment or pigments of selected color is applied with a brush or similar means in selected areas and then troweled or feathered to give the desired marbleizing effect. The product is then allowed to harden. The resultant product is hard, durable, water-resistant, easily washable and resembles marble.

  • Patent number: 4774449
Abstract: A transformerless battery charger having a circuit for connecting the battery to an A.C. power source to supply charging current to the battery including: an inductive impedance in series with the battery for limiting the charging current through the battery. An electronic switch in the form of a TRIAC or SCR is connected in series with the battery, and the electronic switch is normally non-conductive thereby keeping open the charging circuit for the battery. An electronic trigger for turning on said electronic switch is provided to close the charging circuit for the battery as a function of the difference between the instantaneous voltage from said A.C. power source and the battery voltage. The electronic switch and the electronic trigger jointly operating to provide a pulsed charging current to the battery during the A.C. power cycle which is long enough to produce a significant battery-charging effect but short enough to avoid harmful internal heating of the battery.
