  • Patent number: 5813973
Abstract: A device for alleviating female urinary incontinence comprising a device body and a urethra obstructing member. The device body forms a cavity. The urethra obstructing member is shaped to deform the user's urethra and to cause the user's urethra to be substantially obstructed. When the device is positioned on a user's body, a partial compression of the device body produces a vacuum within the cavity which is sufficient to hold the device onto the user's body. The device may be re-usable, non-reusable or of limited re-use.

  • Patent number: 5795336
Abstract: A needle protector device including a mount having a needle subassembly attached to an upper end, an open lower end, and an aperture in the side of the mount. The aperture includes an entrance position adjacent to the lower end of the mount and an armed position radially spaced from the entrance position by an angled portion of the mount. A protective cover is coupled to the mount and has a protruding lug which engages the mount aperture. The cover is adapted for being a needle protection position in which the needle tip is covered and the cover is not retractable, an armed position in which the needle tip is covered and the cover is retractable, and a retracted position in which the needle tip extends through an open lower end of the cover. A spring having a pair of axial extensions is coupled between the mount and the cover. The spring is biased in rotation and compression during assembly of the device, causing the cover to be automatically urged to the needle protection position.

  • Patent number: 5791485
Abstract: A multilayer protection bag for protecting an electronic module, circuit card, or the like comprising walls having an external first layer of an antistatic shield film, a second layer of static-free bubble pack, and a third layer of a static-free film forming an interior liner of the protection bag to inhibit corrosion and outgassing. A mechanical cushioning bumper is provided around the perimeter of the sides and bottom of the protection bag for shock protection. A moisture proof pinch type zip lock is provided on the top of the protection bag. A carrier is provided within the protection bag for holding a desiccant and a humidity indicator. The combination of such wall layers and the cushioning bumper provide an improved in-process protection bag during a manufacturing process and also a shipping and storage protection bag having at least a 10 year shelf-life for a module or circuit card placed within it.

  • Patent number: 5755236
Abstract: A device for alleviating female urinary incontinence comprising a resilient and at least partially deformable device body having a distal tip portion, a flange and an intermediate frustoconical portion extending outwardly from the tip portion to the flange. In use, upper wall portions of the intermediate frustoconical portion adjacent to the tip portion are moved toward abutting relation to form a first vacuum region within the tip portion and a second vacuum region within the frustoconical portion. The meatus of the user is disposed in the second vacuum region and is advantageously prevented from entering the first region by the upper wall portions of the intermediate frustoconical portion. With this arrangement, the meatus is disposed in a "tent" region (i.e., the second vacuum region) which has a broad base and an apex and is prevented from entering the first vacuum region which has a narrower entrance that could detrimentally entrap meatal tissue.

  • Patent number: 5752944
Abstract: A two piece male incontinence device includes an inner sheath adapted to adhere to and cover at least a portion of the penis of the user and an outer sheath adapted to adhere to the inner sheath and to direct voided urine to a receptacle. At least the penile meatus is exposed through an opening in the inner sheath. The outer sheath includes a continuous cap-like section adapted to adhere to the inner sheath, a urine collection section and a tube section suitable for connection to a urine receptacle. The user changes the outer sheath as needed while leaving the inner sheath intact for prolonged periods of time, thereby minimizing penile skin damage and erosion resulting from repeated removal of a device adhesively bonded to the skin.
