Patent number: 4397759Abstract: Polypropylene and other polyolefins are rendered flame retardant by the addition of a phosphonate ester having the following formula: ##STR1## wherein a 0, 1 or 2, b is 0, 1 or 2, c is 1, 2 or 3 and a+b+c is 3; R and R' are the same or dissimilar and are alkyl, alkoxy, aryl, aryloxy, alkaryl, alkaryloxy, aralkyl, aryloyxalkoxy, or aralkoxy; wherein the alkyl portion of these groups may contain hydroxyl but no halogen and the aryl portion may contain chlorine bromine and hydroxyl groups; R.sup.2 is alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, or aryl; R.sup.3 is lower alkyl (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4); and a wetting agent penetrant. The presence of the penetrant promotes penetration of the retardant composition into the polypropylene. This fire retardant composition is particularly useful in polypropylene fibers and fabrics particularly where the fibers are woven into a matte.Type: GrantFiled: July 25, 1979Date of Patent: August 9, 1983Inventor: Henry Hancock

Patent number: 4396124Abstract: A wardrobe carton hanger bar structure, for mounting a plurality of garment hangers seriatim and in registration in a wardrobe carton, so that the hangers and associated garments mounted on the hangers are suspended from the main bar of the hanger bar structure, and so that the hangers are restrained from being dislodged from the hanger bar structure. The present article of manufacture features an auxiliary bar adjacent the main bar. The auxiliary bar is disposed laterally to the side of and parallel to the main bar and in registration, so that the auxiliary bar restrains hangers mounted on the main bar against being dislodged. End brackets are provided to receive the respective ends of the main bar and auxiliary bar. Each end bracket is provided with two spaced apart terminal transverse flanges in registration, so that the hanger bar structure may be fitted onto the upper edges of two opposed walls of the wardrobe carton.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 1981Date of Patent: August 2, 1983Inventor: Harold Feder

Patent number: 4381697Abstract: An apparatus to make cookies which consists of a drum shaped device known as a die roll for shaping the cookies. The drum shaped die roll receives dough from a feed hopper and deposits the shaped dough on the surface of a transfer conveyor at a first location. The drum is provided with knurls on its outside surface which ensure a positive drive to the transfer conveyor. The transfer conveyor then moves the shaped dough to a second location which is adjacent to an oven conveyor. The oven conveyor receives the shaped dough at the second location and carries the shaped dough into an oven for baking into cookies or cookie bits.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 1981Date of Patent: May 3, 1983Assignee: Deer Park Baking Co.Inventor: William G. Patent number: 4381538Abstract: A lamp swivel composed of two main coaxial members, which are at least partially rotatable relative to each other. An inner pin extends from one member to a circular inner groove in the other member, the groove being coaxial with the members. However, the other member, usually composed of a metal such as brass, copper or aluminum which may be anodized, is coined so as to prevent egress of the pin from the groove. Thus the two members are semi-permanently attached to each other and can rotate, by less than 360 degrees, relative to each other. The invention is especially applicable to provide an articulated lamp mounting for a swing arm lamp or the like, the lamp swivel being a swivel connector or coupling means which provides an articulated mounting attachment for the lamp.Type: GrantFiled: October 13, 1981Date of Patent: April 26, 1983Assignee: I. W. Industries, Inc.Inventor: Jerome Warshawsky

Patent number: 4377352Abstract: A stanchion is constructed and designed so as to be emplaced near a body of water, with its upper pivotally mounted portion in a lowered position, and with the rising of the water, the pivotal section self-actuates and rises with the water level to form a water containment barrier which will redirect the waterflow and protect property disposed on the other side of the barrier. With the receding of the water level, the upper section of the stanchion is self-lowered, thus providing an aesthetically acceptable appearance. A plurality of such stanchions with interconnected flexible sheeting provides a continuous barrier which can contour a land mass adjacent to a body of water.Type: GrantFiled: January 2, 1981Date of Patent: March 22, 1983Inventor: Charles B. Patent number: 4372367Abstract: A roller blind includes a reversable electric motor disposed in and arranged to drive a roller winder via a reduction gear to roll-up and unroll the blind. The motor is switched off at an open and closed position of the blind by limit switches actuable by a control device drivable with the winding roller. The control device includes at least one actuating mechanism provided with first and last rotatable members. The first rotatable member can be brought into geared connection with the winding roller and the last rotatable member is associated with at least one of the limit switches and is provided with an actuator member to actuate the limit switches. The maximum rolling or unrolling-up length of the roller blind is arranged to correspond to an angular rotation of the last roller of less than 360.degree..Type: GrantFiled: May 19, 1980Date of Patent: February 8, 1983Inventors: Umberto Baldanello, Giuseppe Zottino

Patent number: 4370969Abstract: A propane gas feed device and system are provided wherein controlled, measured quantities of propane gas are controllably pre-mixed with air and this pre-mixture of air-propane is fed as a carburetor mixture for combustion in the engine. An air cut-off screen is controllably operated to adjust the air-fuel ratio relative to a changeover in the propane and gasoline demands. The propane feed system may be retro-fitted to an automobile employing conventional propane feed and provides for more efficient use of the propane with reduced unburned fraction in the engine exhaust. The propane air-feed device is also useful as wherein propane is the sole fuel.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 1981Date of Patent: February 1, 1983Assignee: Neal ZarrelliInventors: Neal Zarrelli, Joseph V.
