Abstract: Methods for positioning a mounted slider device on a recloseable package include inoperably mounting the slider device onto the closure arrangement and contacting the inoperably mounted slider device with a surface to operably position the slider device on the reclosable closure mechanism. Methods of manufacturing recloseable packages include providing a package, a recloseable closure mechanism, and a slider device. Attaching the recloseable closure mechanism to the package. Mounting the slider device on the recloseable closure mechanism and contacting inoperably mounted slider devices with a surface to operably position the slider device on the recloseable closure mechanism.

Abstract: A method of making packages having a reclosable zipper construction openable and closeable by a slider device by a horizontal form, fill and seal process. The method includes applying the slider device to the zipper construction prior to incorporating the zipper construction with the package film to form the package. The zipper construction is first applied and adhered to one half of the package film and then to the other half. A tamper-evident seal may be provided encasing the slider device to provide indication whether access has been gained to the slider device and the interior of the package.

Abstract: Stand-up, gusseted packages having a reclosable closure mechanism around the periphery of the package mouth. The package has opposite first and second panels, and first and second side panels, which together form a surrounding wall that defines the mouth. The closure mechanism is present on each of the panels. On the first and second panels, the closure mechanism is oriented inward, so that the panels can be interlocked. On each of the first and second side panels, the closure mechanism is oriented outward, and is present as a first portion and a second portion defined by the gusset. To close the package, the closure mechanisms on the first panel and second panel are interlocked, and the side panels are folded inward to allow the first portion and the second portion to interlock. Methods of making the package are described.

Abstract: A slider device and methods of making. The slider device is for use with a resealable package having a zipper closure, and includes a top wall with first and second ends, a spreader depending from the top wall, a first sidewall with a first hook construction extending therefrom, and a second side wall with a second hook construction extending therefrom. An extended length of profiled material is extruded and can be converted to form individual slider devices. The spreader can be tapered, either in its width or the distance in which is depends from the top wall. These slider devices can be incorporated into resealable packages.

Abstract: A method of making packages having a reclosable zipper closure by a vertical form, fill and seal process. The method includes providing a pocket in a film web into which a zipper closure is positioned and attached. The film web is folded and sealed to form side panels and seams, which result in a package. The pocket provides an internal tamper evident-structure for the package. An external tamper evident-structure can be provided between the distal ends of the mating profiles of the zipper closure.

Abstract: A zipper closure having a first and second releasably interlocking closure profiles where a first sealing flange extends from the first closure profile, and a second sealing flange extends from the second closure profile. Two rectangular-shaped protrusions are on each of an exterior and interior side of the first sealing flange. A rectangular-shaped protrusion is on each of an exterior and interior side of the second sealing flange. The rectangular-shaped protrusions on each interior side of first and second sealing flange are constructed and arranged to mate with each other. A flexible, reclosable package and methods of manufacturing are also disclosed.

Abstract: A flexible, reclosable package having a zipper closure and a slider device mounted thereon, the zipper closure and slider device encapsulated within a tamper evident-structure such as a hood. The hood has a top seal region where the walls of the hood are sealed together; the hood walls can be of the same material as the package walls. In one embodiment, each end of the zipper closure includes an area that terminates the slider device travel; this can be a crush area or region. In order to gain access to the interior of the package, the hood is removed by breaching the hood, such as at an area of weakness that is between the slider device and the region where the zipper closure attaches to the package walls.

Abstract: A closure arrangement for use with a flexible package includes a first closure mechanism, a slider device, and a second closure mechanism. The first closure mechanism includes selectively engageable first and second profiles. The slider device has a housing operably mounted on the first closure mechanism. The slider housing is constructed and arranged to engage and disengage the first and second profiles. The slider housing defines a first cavity that slidably receives said first and second profiles. The second closure mechanism includes selectively engageable third and fourth profiles. The second closure mechanism is adjacent to the first closure mechanism but is completely outside of the first cavity. The second closure mechanism may be either a single pair of interlocking hooks, or may be multiple members. The slider device includes a plow with a non-rectangular cross-section, such as a polygon, a racetrack, or a circle.

Abstract: Chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC) is prepared from polyvinyl chloride (PVC). When PVC is made utilizing polyvinyl alcohol, the low molecular weight CPVC compound so prepared is colored. A low molecular weight CPVC compound prepared from PVC that was made in the presence of a cellulose ether instead of polyvinyl alcohol resulted in a very low color compound having a DE of O by definition. However, a CPVC compound prepared from PVC made in the presence of polyvinyl alcohol resulted in a relatively high color (DE 18.51). During the polymerization of vinyl chloride, polyvinyl alcohol is replaced with the hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose ether having a methoxyl substitution of 15-35 percent and a hydroxypropoxyl substitution of from 4-35 percent.
