Abstract: Method of constructing an assembly having as one element a right circular cylinder with center bore and accurately machined and lapped circular surfaces and perpendicular end faces, and as another element a hollow shaft fitted and joined within said center bore in a manner unable to transmit distorting strain to said cylinder when said shaft has a coefficient of expansion greater than that of said cylinder. The shaft either has an interrupted exterior with severely limited contact areas for joining adhesively to the bore surface or is of other structure that is incapable of straining the cylinder.
Abstract: A storage circuit for editing printing data for metal paper printers in which the printer has a plurality of spaced electrodes arranged on a slope. The data in binary form are to be recorded in a matrix of rows and columns and are supplied in columnar fashion to a register from which they are grouped and read into a storage with corresponding bit positions of the groups being stored concurrently during a write operation. An address control appropriately places the stored bits to accommodate the spacing between electrodes for the respective data bits.

Abstract: Sheathed electrode for metal paper printer in which the core is of material having a higher melting point than the encasing material. This arrangement permits the use of electrodes having smaller cross-section and attainment of finer resolution since only the core is effective during marking.

Abstract: The carrier for the print head of a printer which is to be used at different operating speeds as a display printer, as a read-only printer, or as a keyboard display printer with asynchronous character rates over a wide range, is operated by a servo motor under the control of a digital/analog converter which continually sums the outputs of an up/down counter which is incremented by incoming data and decremented by the output of a shift register advanced by the incoming data.
