  • Patent number: 5245779
Abstract: The present invention relates to a tubular body such as a fishing rod or a golf club shaft. According to the present invention, a tubular body is made of reinforcing fibers impregnated with synthetic resin, having a reinforcing layer made of thermoplastic amorphous polymer fibers thereon. Therefore, the thermoplastic amorphous polymer fibers absorb the impact and keep the body proper free from being destroyed or damaged when the tubular body is shocked. In the case of a fishing rod, said fibers absorb and lessen noise so that only a bite of a fish can easily be noticed. In the case of a golf club shaft, the fibers lessen the impact vibration when the sweet spot of the club hits the ball so that it is possible to know whether the club head has hit the ball without fail.

  • Patent number: 5238140
Abstract: A device for storing and dispensing both medication and liquid to take with such medication includes a flask which is such size as to permit storage of a sufficient amount of liquid to facilitate taking of at least one oral dose of medication. The flask is adapted for selective passage therethrough of a fluid substance and shaped for convenient comfortable long term carriage on the user's person. A medication container is fixed within the flask in such manner as to open outwardly therethrough and is provided with a selectively openable resealable lid. An adaptation for liquid dispensing is formed in the flask by which to provide access to liquid stored therein by the user when taking a dosage of medication which has been stored within the medication container. The liquid dispensing adaptation has a selectively openable resealable lid to prevent inadvertent spillage of liquid stored within the flask.

  • Patent number: 5236147
Abstract: A fishing reel is provided with a line length measuring device to determine the unwound or wound amount of the fishing line based on the number of spool rotations. It is provided with a micro computer-implemented function to detect when the fishing line wound onto the spool reaches a prescribed winding amount. The line length is measured by micro computer execution of a formula for line length calculation determined by the total number of spool rotations when the fishing line is wound to a prescribed winding diameter level of the spool, according to the actual number of spool rotations when the line is unwound or wound, as counted with an incremental/decremental counter. Further, when the fishing line reaches the prescribed winding amount, the prescribed winding amount detector so informs.

  • Patent number: 5236066
Abstract: A wheel brake for shopping carts and other wheeled equipment is disclosed. Typically, shopping carts and other wheeled equipment have a yoke depending from a lower end of a leg support, the yoke including a pair of generally parallel downwardly extending arms. A wheel is rotatably mounted on an axle extending between these downwardly extending arms. In order to provide selective braking engagement of the wheel to immobilize the shopping cart or other wheeled equipment, a brake tongue is pivotally mounted at one end to the yoke above the wheel and extends across at least a part of the wheel. A foot pedal is pivotally mounted to the yoke in spaced relationship to the brake tongue for movement between engaged and released positions relative to the wheel. The foot pedal includes a depending brake element for engaging and depressing the brake tongue into selective braking engagement with the wheel when the foot pedal is moved into engaged position by a user.

  • Patent number: 5231373
Abstract: A vehicular-borne illumination control system of the invention for vehicular use automatically controls intensity of a signal light source, i.e., center mounted brake signal, as a function of one or more safety-affecting parameters, e.g., deceleration and/or light level or other ambient condition including fog or precipitation as sensed by sensor(s) of the system. MOSFET switching controls energization of the light from vehicle power, with capability of providing different possible illumination levels by duty cycle control. A microcontroller is responsive sensor input for controlling the duty cycle to vary energization of the light source for transition between said different illumination levels. The transition is thus able to be varied according to a time-varying function, as effectively by spiked overdriving or underdriving, to compensate for human physiological inability to perceive change in the different intensity levels or states.

  • Patent number: 5219169
Abstract: A golf club orientation and alignment system for use when addressing and hitting a golf ball. A bubble indicator is carried at the top surface of a club head and can be adjusted to compensate for different club face offsets. The bubble indicator shows the alignment and orientation of the club head about both a line-of-aim axis and a transverse axis perpendicular to the line-of-aim axis. When the club head is aligned and oriented in this manner, a golfer can shoot more accurately, and eliminate hooks and slices. Arrangement is disclosed also for controllably adjusting the bubble indicator for varying the inclination of a hitting face of the club.

  • Patent number: 5217102
Abstract: A storage system for sequent and positioned input, storage and removal of ems arranged on a carrier, includes a first container for full carriers and a second container for empty carriers. The carrier is a conveyor belt, the ends of which are attached to shafts, and which can be wound up upon these shafts together with the items on the conveyor belt. The conveyor belt is composed of individual rigid segments, which are flexibly joined to each other by a joining device, and each of which is a storage device for at least one item. A forward transport unit moves the conveyor belt in such a manner that a new item can be stored or removed from one loading and unloading station and the conveyor belt is unwound from one shaft and rewound on the other shaft. The shafts are arranged in a container in a type of cassette. The system has the advantage that it requires only one loading and unloading station and that the process can be readily automated.
